Nice, I like the general concepts. I have always been intrigued by F&E, but have never played it. The sheer complexity and time commitment being what has put me off in the past. Being an Axis and Allies fan, I would want to be able to finish a game in a long evening at most.

I have long hoped for an "F&E Lite" type game as well. My personal preference would be for counters (as opposed to little plastic starship miniatures) since it seems easier to use (and produce) in the long run. Plus, I just really like counters for some reason. I have been eagerly awaiting SVC's official version and hope that it might start development someday soon.

I have kicked around running a very slimmed down version of F&E using some of the Traveller Sector maps as battlefields. Like others, I like the concept of the Strategic Game, but get bogged down.

Honestly, the game needs to deal from a squadrons level rather than an individual ship level. This would cut the counter and rules density down considerably.

Something like the old Fifth Frontier War from Traveller.
