No. PA mines are basically specialized T-bombs, and I see no way that T-bombs will ever be added to BoM, much less FC. So, without all of the rules around transporting or laying bombs, I don't see any need or reason to even think about going in that direction.
(If FC ever takes a look over at M33, the Imperium have a medium mine rack system, but that's an optional refit which they could well do without.)
The Imperium still needs to be formally published before ever worrying about translating them to FC. Worrying about details like this now is simply a rather futile exercise.

KISS

Post by ericphillips »

As i said before, for FC it should be KISS as much as it can (that's "Keep It Simple, Stupid," not the KISS of "I Want To Rock and Roll All Night" version, though Gene Simmons would have made an awesome Klingon. Peter Chriss= Kzinti or Lyran?).

In fact, if I had my druthers, it would not be added to weapons, it would appear as part of the terrain rules.

Ooo. That's a great idea!

I would have been inclined to include mines in section 5, not section 4. But, using section 6 is a wonderful idea. I like that a lot.

Just like I said earlier...treat mines like asteroids.

Same here - I would have really, really hated mines in FC, but having it as a terrain feature would work for me, extra types of terrain is good - it is the ultimate optional rule, I like terrain to spice up things, I hate extra rules (for optional stuff like mines) that end up being used all the time.

Great idea on putting mines in the terrain rules section. If I could suggest, in keeping with the 'keep it simple theme', limit the blast-detonation radius to the 1 hex the mine is in, 10,000 km is enough.

And please, never ever include transporter bombs in FC in any way shape or form.

IMHO, mine-layers in FC would lead to the over-saturation of ship types. My old SFB group had a running joke about having to sift through so many damn ships 'til we found the perfect War-Cruiser-Minesweeper-Survey-Leader.
