One week to the end of Round #1!
Just a reminder that all Round #1 results are due one week from now.
I would prefer not to adjudicate any games (or to have mine adjudicated), but it will done if necessary to keep the tournament moving.
Thanks,
Jim

A Reminder to Those Who Have Lost Their First Round
If you are really disatisfied with your choice of empire or ships, don't forget you can change empires and ships between rounds. You are required to enter the tournament fresh (i.e., you have to surrender your existing record), but since you have lost your first round, nothing is lost by starting over with a new empire or new ships.
This said, I will apply two restrictions.
First, Garrett and I need to be notified within two days of the end of a round and you must identify your new empire and ship purchases at the time you provide us such notification.
Second, if you pick an empire where there are already four active players, your ship point value multiplier will go up one level for that empire. This will NOT affect any already existing players of that empire -- only the fifth and later players of that empire.

After Action Report - Jiraiys 1969 vs. Mojo_Bilbo
After action report for FCOl 2nd Tournament:
Jiraiya 1969 (Klingon) - C7 (Pestilence), D7 (Demonspawn) and D5 (Dagger)
vs.
Mojo Bilbo - (Federation) - NCC (Tokyo), NCL (Olympia), NCL (Repulse)
(NOTE: I have been very busy with two jobs and writing this report 2 weeks after the fact, so some of the details may be a bit hazy. If I have made a mistake or left aomething out, Mojo_Bilbo, plase fell free to correct.)
Round 1
The Klingons force started out in the NW corner of the map, the Feds in the SE corner. Both forces advanced across the board at spd 16. The Feds slipped on occasion to spread their squadron out while the Klingons took point with the Demonspawn and Dagger, with Pestilence a hex behind. At the end of turn 1, the Klingons fired 12 disruptors at the Tokyo, knocking it's #1 shield down to 20% of it's original strength. The Feds returned phaser fire against the Pestilence innefectually. At the end of the turn a full spread of 8 drones was launched targeting the Tokyo
Round 2
Both forces again approaced one another at speed 16, with the Klingon squadron launching 8 more drones, this time at the Olympia. At range 8. a massive exhange of fire occured, with the entire Federation squadron targeting the Dagger with all available weapons and the Klingons targeting the Tokyo with weapons that beared at the time.
Both ships were heavily damaged, with the Tokyo weathering it better with all it's hull boxes, the Dagger, being the smaller ship, was gutted except for a few weapons and would have been destroyed outright had a few more photons found their mark.
At this point the Dagger veared off, drawing pursuit from the Repulse. The Tokyo and Olympia slipped to the left to handle the drone waves the best they could. with some drones eventually impacting. The Pestilence fired upon Tokyo with all bearing weapons. Along with drone damage, Shields 1 thru 3 on the Tokyo were down and (thanks to Tokyo being forced to burn all it's power and phasers against drones) allowed the Pestilence to drop it's #1 shield and raid his port side phaser batteries, detsroying all three (anybosy who has played me knowa how extraordinary this kind of good fortune is, especially with me rolling the dice!
). Needless to say, these marines would be getting extra rations of blood wine for their efforts. The Tokyo, in return, could do little but attack with a few ph-1s and it's probe launcher, drpping it's shield, but scoring minimal damage against the Pestilence.
Meanwhile, the Olympia lost it's #3 shield from drone impacts, allowing the Demonspawn to fire through a down shield and similarly ravaging that vessel as well.
The Dagger continued to swing around the northern climes of the map repairing a phaser and reallocating some shields, with Repulse continnuing to pursue.
Round 3
The game lasted for another impulse, The Pestilence blazed in to point blank range and put the Tokyo out of it's misery via OL disruptors and 6 PH-1s. The Demonspawn agian was able to exploit Olympia's down #3 shield, inflicting further damage. With the Tokyo destroyed and a badly mauled Olympia about to be targeted with 7 drones, the Feds conceded the match.
The Dagger did an HET to bring a few weapons to bring two disruptors to bear on the Repulse, who in turn could have taken the Dagger out, but it would have been the Pestilence (a heavy battlecruiser) and Demonspawn (a battlecruiser) against the Repulse (a light cruiser) at that point. even with minimal damage to both Klingons and essentially an untouched Fed CL, the Feds had their work cut out for them.
Looking forward to the next match!

Hi,
I concede game against Krellex, because I thin we can't finish it in time (damn 8 hours time zone differences
)
But I think that Krellex will have won this game, He has a 40% damaged cruiser while my own cruiser is 50% damages and my frigate almost dead.
Nice game, apart a lot of FCOL bugs which hampers the game.

Round 1 has been completed.
Tamari has indicated he will be sacrificing his Round 1 bye in order to switch from his current Wyn squadron to a 437 point Klingon Squadron consisting of a D5WL, D7C and D5D.
Anyone else wanting to switch empires or ships needs to notify Garrett and I by no later than this Saturday the 12th. Remember that you have to sacrifice your existing record in order to switch empires or ships. Also, if you are the 5th or higher numbered player to select an empire, your point value multipliers will be raised one level, but those for the existing players of that empire will remain as is.
It is my understanding that Terry has unfortunately had to withdraw from the tournament. If anyone else needs to withdraw, I need to know that by no later than Saturday the 12th. I strongly encourage players to remain in the tournament as long as you can. As a Swiss style tournament, all players will be ranked at its conclusion and you cannot lose anything by playing more matches.
Finally, assuming nobody else withdraws, we now have an odd number of players. If there is anyone lurking out there that would like to join the tournament late, please let me now by -- you guessed it -- Saturday the 12th. You will only get in the tournament if we need you in order to have an even number of players and you will not be able to place first in the tournament, but you could achieve up to second place and it is still a great opportunity to get in four games against live opponents on FC Online.
I will post the Round 2 matchups on Sunday the 13th.

Krellex and I completed the first two turns of our game today. Fred has a Klingon C7, DWL and F5. I have a Gorn DN and two Gorn HDDs.
The fight has been a standoff so far. The total damage currently only amounts to two damaged shield boxes on one of the shields of my Gorn DN. We are now about 25 hexes apart (Fred has almost completed his turn back toward me). He has about 7 Drones headed toward me that have been in flight for one impulse. I have one S torpedo very close to him that is about to fizzle out and another S torpedo headed his away that has been in flight for 3 or 4 impulses. There are also about 10 Gorn suicide shuttles slowly headed toward Fred.
It will be interesting to find out what happens next.
How is everyone else coming along with their Round 2 matches?
