planets

Post by ncrcalamine »

If a planet fills the whole hex can you shoot another ship firing along the hex edge which is the planet edge? (not crossing the edge, just firing along it)

When you are bombarding a specific edge of a planet, must you be in the area you would need to be if you were firing on the planet as if it was shielded ie in the shield arc, or do you just need a line of sight to the planet edge you are bombarding?

the above question also applies to seeking weapons.

thank you

- You may fire along the edge of a planet. The line of fire must pass through the planet hex to block line of fire.

- You merely need a line of sight to fire into a planet's hex facing.

- A seeking weapon may be targeted on a planet's surface via line of sight. However, it will only hit something on the facing through which it enters the planet.

So does this mean that you can have direct offensive fire on any of the 3 hex sides of that side of the planet facing you?

Seeking weapons, of course, can always be launched and manuevered to hit one of a couple hex sides.

Yes, that is exactly the case.

Ships are tiny little things being fired at from vast distances. A planet is really, really big, so your field of fire is not as restricted.
