Hello to everyone! First post

Hello from Memphis TN!

I wanted to take a second and introduce myself to everyone here. I'm a life-long Star Trek fan and am just getting started doing some adult Star Trek gaming.

Back when I was younger, in the late 70's and early 80's, I collected Star Trek miniatures. Back in the good-ole-days when they were made out of safe, edible, delicious American lead! (LOL!!!) I had several ships and played with and displayed them for years and years.

What brought me back to Star Trek gaming as an adult was the Star Trek Miniatures. I started collecting the Johnny Lightning ships, then backtracked to purchasing the Star Trek Micro Machines, and then discovered the Federation Commander game and miniatures. I am VERY excited about getting my collection of Miniatures started, and hope to get some Memphis folks to join me in gaming! I'm pumped and excited!

I am a veteran of other forums, so I will try not to ask too many questions without doing a lot of searching and researching. But I do have a couple of questions I didn't find easily in the search function.

I am going to order some Amarillo Design starship miniatures next week. What I am NOT finding for sale anywhere are Star Trek CHARACTER miniatures. I'm talking TOS, Next Generation, away teams, Klingons and such. I can't find any character miniatures for sale.

Can anyone recommend a good place to purchase these character miniatures? I would appreciate any and all suggestions, as I would like to buy several different figures from both TOS and TNG. If possible!

Finally, I look forward to getting to know everyone and becoming a part of the community here. Hopefully there will be some people from the Memphis area. I really do hope to meet some of you someday and play some great Star Trek games!

Thanks again for having me!

First off... Welcome to our online world.

secondly, miniatures:
The only company I know of who sells trek type minis is: Mega Miniatures. they has a sat in their Sci Fi range called bridge crew that is obvisously based on TNG. I have seen them in out local store.
You can download the catalog to see all of them, here is a photo of them.
they are a bit small compared to most otehrs, but they are available.

FASA made several miniatures based on ST: TWOK. They are only available on ebay now... but they look really good.

third: Memphis players:
There are several players in the Memphis / Jackson TN area.
You can go to the Commanders Circle and search for players. Search by state.
TN will turn up several in tyour area... and all of us in Battlegroup Murfreesboro. You might also search Arkansas and Mississippi for players within driving distance.

Good luck and if you ever make it to Nashville / Murfreesboro - drop me a line. We'll get a game going for you.

Great to have you with us, TrekFanChuck. Always good to have more people on board. You might want to look into the PBEM options while you wait to get some of your locals involved. Also, I am down the road in Atlanta so, if you are ever coming this way and looking for a game, let me know.

Again, good to have you here.

You know... Murfreesobor is about half-way between Atlanta and Memphis!

I detect possibilities.

My wife used to live just down the road from Murfreesboro, so we would have no problem making plans this summer to spend a weekend in Nashville so we could play with you all!

Do I detect a summer gaming weekend event in our near future? YES, YES I DO!

Welcome to the club! I am a new player as well. I played a bit of SFB back in the '80s and just recently made my first Federation Commander purchase. If you need any help, this is the correct place to be. Everyone here seems very helpful.

Enjoy!

Yeah, welcome to the forums! Always good to have some new blood.

Do you ever play at Gamerz Depot? The last time I was up there they said they had some FedCom guys that played there.

I haven't had a chance to play the game, YET. lol But, I did visit Gamerz Depot this weekend with my wife and daughter and it was FILLED with people, all playing different games. I really do look forward to getting some Star Trek gaming up and running.

Perhaps we can get together soon and get a nice group of players interested again. I have been emailing people all weekend and there seems to be a few people that want to play Federation Commander and Star Fleet Battles.

I'd love it. LOVE. IT!

I think they said the FC guys play on Thursday night, but I could be wrong. When I went, it was on a Saturday, and they were playing Flames of War iirc.

I don't think they are currently playing FC on Thursdays currently. That said, its not something that couldn't be set up.
