Definately a fun game.
The Fed FFG made an attack on the Lyr-CA doing 63 damage, though the FFG was lost with all hands in the process.
Then the CA turned toward the Fed cruisers for a range zero attack with the L-DW in support 2hexes away. The Feds let loose a hail of photons and phasers followed by 4 drones that destroyed the DW and CA. The Lyr-DN was still 5 hexes away from the Fed Cruisers.
I thought I had him but he saved power for a HET and ran for it with 5 impulses left in the turn, but he only had 3 power remaining on each ship with which to accelerate.
A little more power and he might even have gotten away, but for want of 2 points of power, the L-DN was able to get to range 3 and cripple the CA through its #3 shield. The Fed BC was already lightly damaged and he was near the corner, so there was nowhere to run for the Feds.
They charged the DN and nearly downed a shield. The DN returned fire through the BC's down shield #1 and then turned in, tractored the BC and set off the ESG for 80 damage. The crippled CA ran but would be hunted down later. Very exciting game.

Once again I have proven that even in the future, your photon torpedoes are built by the lowest bidder.

Round 3 Results as of 4/23/2011:
All matches need to be completed and reported to Garrett and I by Tuesday, May 10th.
My draw with Paul revealed an issue that will need to be resolved for the next online tournament. I will eventually open a topic to discuss the issue and the options available for resolution of the issue.
Paul has earned more tie breaker points than I have earned and will play Patrick in Round 4 to determine the winner of the tournament. I'll work up the remaining Round 4 matches once all the Round 3 results are in.

Round 3: Garrett vs Mojo_billbo (Tholian vs. Federation)
The Tholians (Garrett) managed to pull out a win, thanks in part to the extra training the Web Caster crews were put through this time around.
A few well placed webs managed to get the Tholians an unanswereds shot at the Fed CC, virtually destroying it. After more maneuvering around (and through) the webs, the Feds were able to get a range 5-6 shot off and hit the Tholian CC with almost all of their fully overloaded photons (ouch!). This destroyed the Tholian CC. Clearly, the Fed photon gunners were at their very best this day!
Next, the Tholians were able to maneuver close enough to the Feds (while they were reloading their photons) to cause major damage to one of the two remaining NCLs. In return, the NCLs were able to cause minor damage to the Tholian DD.
At this point, the Federation surrendered, and the Tholians allowed them to return to Federation space, rather than be taken captive. The result was one undamaged NCL (plus gutted NCC & mostly gutted NCL) for the Feds, and a slightly damaged DD and undamaged DPW (plus destroyed CC) for the Tholians.
Thanks for the game, Mojo_billbo. Looking forward to our next encounter.

Jiraiya1969 v VulcanDropout
Turn 1 ended with our ships 12 or 13 hexes apart and my romulan ships too close to the bottom and too close to the klingons for my comfort.
We fired, with the Klingons doing average damage and my rolling well with my phasers (something that continued to happen throughout the game.)
I launched 2 S-torps (one from my novahawk and one from my Sparrowhawk A at his C7.
By accelerating, I moved my Sp-A and FH out his his FA arc on 2.1 and the sp-M was just in his FA arc of the D7 (r9) and D5 (r8 ). I think the C7 had started turning off at this point and the Sp-M was 9 hexes off his R/RR spine. The SP-M used full batteries on all 3 volleys to block the 15 of the damage. In 2.1 I launched my rs pl-D at the drone swarm heading my way. In 2.2 I turned up, hoping I could shoot down all the drones targeted on my Sp-A. In the end, I had launched 6 pl-D, 2 of which were lost when their targets impacted before the D's caught up with them. (Actually, I quoted the rules wrong to my esteemed oppenent and later corrected the situation when I checked up on the rules.) I used 2 tractors, but I did stop the drones and started dogging the tails of the Klingons. After that, turn 2 was mostly my chasing him and he running from the plasmas. I did fire some phasers at the D5 late in the turn.
Early turn 3 he HET'd toward me from r8 and 9. All our ships were going speed 24. We had both accelerated and 3.1 found my the D5 2 hexes off my NH on the 1/6 spine and the C7 and D7 3 hexes off my shield 6. He fired on my NH but didn't have the power for a good dump. Even so,
the D5 did about 20 damage to my sheild 1, the C7 dropped my #6 and did 6 internals (after I blocked 8 ) and the D7 did about 20 more internals which I couldn't block after the C7's volley. I fired 4 p1 at the D5's #1 and saved my LS and rear p3 for the upcoming drone wave. He launched 8 drones, and my NH launched one F, one fast F, and one S at the D5 and one F at the D7.
At this point, my Sp-A was 2 hexes astern of the NH and the Sp-M was 2 astern of him.
As he had recently turned, the D5 couldn't avoid the plasmas and took 70 on his #6. The D7 did turn and avoided the pl-F. The C7 turned parallel to my ships and away from the D7 to avoid getting tractored my the Sp-A. Having missed his primary target, the A chased after the D7 who was running low on power and wouldn't be able to move at 24+1 forever. The M ended up firing the 2 p1 and 3 LS p3 at the c7 at r2 and later 3 more p3 r1 at drones. The NH did fire 2 rear p3 at drones at r1. Mid to late turn, it became obvious that my Sp-A was going to tractor the D7 at r1 or 0 off a rear shield, launch at least 2 F's (one a fast load) and fire a few phasers. The two sparrowhawks would have been close to the D7 at the start of t4 and the NH would have outrun the drone wave and phasered it down in t4.
The Klingons resigned at this time.

Round 3 Results as of 5/03/2011:
We are now down to waiting for conclusion of the Storeylf/ericphillips match, which needs to be completed and reported to Garrett and I by Tuesday, May 10th.
I strongly encourage everyone to play in the 4th and final round, which will begin by May 15th. However, if anyone will be unable to do so, please let me know ASAP.
I am also interested in volunteers to receive any "bye" (of a "draw") that I may need to award for the final round in the event we do not have an even number of active participants for the final round.
Thanks,
Jim

I started a topic about a bug I encountered in the new ships requested topics. It may be of interest to the group playing in the tourney.
