new communique

Post by storeylf »

Thanks for the galleon, but the text next to it?
For what its worth,SVC is convinced that many of the players who voted for this ship thought it was something else (despite the clear explanation in the poll of what it was and what it was not).
Mmm - not sure about that. I was pretty clear on what it was. Is this and the text about a poll not a hangover from the last communique?

Ooops - something weird was happening when I was posting, and there are now 3 versions of this post, but the other 2 are corrupted so delete them please.

Mod: OK. Problem fix.

Eh, maybe.

Anyway, know it is a brand new ship that isn't even in SFB yet. In its own way, you can probably think of it as the "Andromedan tug".

Oh?
Petrick says that the Caravel (Conquistador) and Galleon (Intruder) cargo ships are in SFB Module C3A.
Not that I'm that bothered, I'm just happy to have an andro 'target' ship :)

I'm Happy for you to have an Andro "target" ship

Won't be a target for long, it will be dust or captured

First, G3A isn't published yet. So, yes, it is appearing in FC first.

As for "target", it is true that it is weapons light. But, don't forget that it can carry the same payload as a Dominator, and they don't have to just be cargo pods ...

Indeed. It can carry 4xMamba, a formidable group of escorts.

Makes sense that it can ferry replacement Sat Ships as well as cargo.

What's an Andro cargo pod look like in FC, anyway? How many hangar points does it occupy?

Ah, ok.

Given we don't have cargo pods in FC that much is certainly true.

It would be interesting to see someone try to take one of those down using an Iridani Galleon. For the Grand Quest!

Score another point for the SFU Drinking Game (TM).

anyway, the small cargo pod (viper size) has 36 cargo boxes and the medium one has 48. There is no large one (at least, not that we know about) but it would have 72.

Wow. That means a Galleon can carry 288 boxes of cargo in its hangar bay (regardless of cargo pod size). That beats the crap out of a galatic tug! Especially since that doesn't even affect is movement rate and turn mode. Obviously, every satellite ship carried drops that total, but that is still quite impressive.

Even the Conquistador version will be able to carry 144 boxes of cargo in its hangar bay. That's still a pretty impressive cargo capacity.

They would make for great RTN-builders, too; the Galleon could carry all four component modules of a battle station, and still have enough room left over for a couple of Cobra escorts.

The Andro cargo pods make pretty much all Andro motherships capable tugs, if need be. Probably why they never built Galleons and only one or two Infestors.
