What should the next ship in Communique be?

Post by mjwest »

What should the next ship in Communique be?

The choices are:
- Romulan Regalhawk. Basically a Firehawk with a single Pl-R instead of two Pl-S.
- Federation Commando Cruiser. Commando version of the venerable light cruiser.
- Klingon Survey Cruiser. A D7 modified for the survey role.
- ISC Light Tactical Transport. What it says ...

Got a couple weeks to vote ...

MJW on the Romulan Regalhawk isn't that instead of the 2 Plasma S torpedoes not in place of the 2 Plasma F torpedoes?

I voted for the fed commando cruiser because Starfleet Marines is coming out soon and it can be used in relation to that game.

Yeah, fat-fingered it. The post has been fixed.

If I could have voted, it would have been for "all of the above", but eventually picked the Fed Commando Cruiser.

- Commando cruiser: interesting ship, I don't remember seeing any other commando cruisers in the game yet - just the troop transport auxiliary
- RegalHawk: meh, too similar to the Romulan Strike Cruiser. And very similar in firepower to the 2xS version.
- D7E: We've already seen the D6E I think, so while an interesting ship, a little bit redundant.
- ISC LTT: Be good as a promo for Transports Attacked, and LTTs are fun.

Hydran Cataphract - Communique 48
Klingon D5G - Communique 46
Frax Commando War Destroyer - Communique 54
Kzinti Medium Commando Cruiser - Communique 60
Frax Commando War Cruiser - Communique 60

I guess the Feds could do with one too, as it might be useful for campaigns - but do they really need another ship?

That's an interesting misspelling of 'target'

BTW, for the commando ship, it could be the NCL version rather than the CL version. I was making an assumption that could have been wrong.

D7E. The Klinks are, for one of the most prevalent empires, seriously devoid of ships right now. They really need more laminated cards, but more cards regardless. I've always found the surbey ships interesting too.

BTW: where is the D6E?

And no, I am not turning klingon. But the lack of klink ships irks me.

Federation Commando Cruiser. This is a great ship, plus it is the only thing needed to play Rescue The Hostages (a really good scenario from SFB, I think it is SH3 - don't have the book with me at the moment). Thanks,

@Dharras: I didn't say there weren't any other commando ships, just that I couldn't remember them.

Getting old, memory like a... thingie... one of those things with holes in them..

Went for the ISC LTT; though I personally think the CBR is cooler.

LTT = "Light Tactical Target" :)

Fed Commando Cruiser! I think "rescue the Hostages" is a great scenario from SFB.
