Transports Attacked
So, for those who have this supplement, what do you think?
Cover art looks awesome and I'm thinking about purchasing this either directly from ADB or from a local gaming store if they have it in stock.
I'm guessing at this point there are only cargo pods available?

(8TR1) PRIORITY CARGO
A battle force waits near the front line, unable to launch a scheduled offensive because it is short on all manner of things: drones, fuel, personnel, Marines, spare parts, and so forth.
A fleet transport tug is dispatched to bring these vital supplies to the fleet. An enemy raider tries to stop the tug, as the supply line is the most vulnerable part of any military force.
======
(8TR2) STRATEGIC
REDEPLOYMENT
One little-known thing about tugs (and LTTs) is that since a pod is designed to be the same size as a freighter, a tug can actually carry a freighter!
There are situations in which a tug picks up a pair of freighters (or an LTT picks up a single freighter) and moves it (at a much higher strategic speed than the freighter can manage) and then drops the freighter within range of its destination.
In this case, a Klingon tug was moving two freighters loaded with important supplies to a release point within range of a forward Klingon base. A Kzinti raider attacked just as the tug reached its destintion.
=====
(8TR3) RESCUE TUG
In desperate situations, some Federation ships can detach the saucer from the rear hull of the ship and use the saucer as a sublight

(8TR3) RESCUE TUG
In desperate situations, some Federation ships can detach the saucer from the rear hull of the ship and use the saucer as a sublight space lifeboat. (Klingons can do the same with the boom sections of their ships.) Federation tugs are specially configured to tow these saucer sections back to a shipyard where they can be mated to a new rear hull and return to service as a new ship.
On the Day of the Eagle (the Romulan invasion of the Federation), the Federation command cruiser Lexington had to detach its saucer to escape destruction in an ambush by a King Eagle. The saucer section hid in the atmosphere of a gas giant, and after receiving some assistance from a Gorn cruiser (which could not tow the Lexington

(8TR4) THE GUN RUNNERS
The ISC pacification forces did not just stop warships from entering the neutral zones, they also controlled civilian traffic, confiscating any contraband they found. The ISC definition of contraband included any type of weapon and important strategic materials such as iridium and tritanium, vital for the construction of warships. The intention was to make it difficult for the other empires to rearm and resume the war. It worked, up to a point. For the most part, it simply encouraged exploration within an empires own borders, but there are always some things that were worth running the ISC blockade for.
This was particularly true for the Federation and Gorns. The Federation needed spare parts for the plasma torpedo launchers on some of its ships; the Gorns needed strategic metals produced in abundance by Federation mining colonies. Federation and Gorn tugs would rendezvous in the Neutral Zone, exchange pods full of strategic materials and then return to their own space. Whenever the ISC discovered such illegal trading, they would try to arrest the gun runners and seize the evidence. For their part, the smugglers resisted arrest.

(8TR5) PASSING THE FOOTBALL
In 2579 the Federation began a series of raids to disrupt the Klingon logistic structure in preparation for their own offensive. In one of these raids, the Federation new heavy cruiser Dayton caught the Klingon tug Commissioner Tomak Vilkov and the light tactical transport Respite just as they were transferring cargo pods. (This was a standard procedure used by all empires, allowing the more easily replaced but shorter-ranged LTTs to supply units in the combat zone while protecting the longer-ranged and harder to replace tug.)
The critical supplies these pods contained made the resulting battle one of extreme desperation.
=====
(8TR6) THE CASSINI INCIDENT
Prior to the General War, tension on the Federation-Klingon border was increasing and war was imminent. The Federation tug Cassini was transporting supplies to an outpost station when it was attacked by the Klingon frigate Khedive. The Klingons knew that if the tug escaped, carrying word of the violation of Federation territory, it could be the spark that would ignite a major war. On the other hand, if the tug could be destroyed, the Klingon captain would be decorated and possibly promoted, and the balance of power on the border would be altered ever so slightly.
The supplies carried by the Cassini were not particularly crucial or secret, but the general disruption of frontier trade and transport is a standard tactic when planning offensive operations.

(8TR7) The Little Tug That Could
In recently discovered Air Force tapes, we found a children's book. Normally, that wouldn't result in an official scenario, but a note in the book indicated that the book was based on an actual historical event, and forms the only published record of that event.
The Little Tug That Could was written by Jena Biblios and was meant as a brief tour of a number of systems, focusing primarily on the Western Worlds. In the book, Tug (a Federation LTT) along with his best friends Apt (an Armed Priority Trader) and Effy (a Federation frigate) travel to places such as Texmex where they deliver fruits and vegetables while picking up meat for an industrial world. At that world, they pick up expensive equipment and head to their next destination. At each stop, there is always "one more thing" that has to be shipped and little Tug always manages to fit it in after he says, I think I can!
One of the exciting events in the book is an encounter with Orion Pirates wherein Tug, Apt, and Effy fight them off. While Tug acquires a rakish scar across his saucer, the trio is successful as the pirates flee when they see CeeCee coming with a bunch of her friends.
This is the story of that fight.

(8TR8) MUTUAL DELIVERY, MUTUAL DESTRUCTION
During the General War, important supply ships were escorted, but in all too many situations, the escorts were called away, leaving the supply ships to fend for themselves. Military supply ships (tugs and LTTs) were often the first to be sent on alone, as they were faster and better protected than freighters.
Late in 2578, the Kzintis were trying to recapture the planet of Karpeltok, a mineral-rich colony planet that the Lyrans had occupied since the first days of the war. A Kzinti fleet had driven away the Lyran ships, and Kzinti ground troops had landed to deal with the Lyran occupation troops.
The battle raged on, and the Kzinti fleet was called away for other battles, but felt that the planet was obviously behind their front lines and resolution of the battle could be left to the ground forces. A Kzinti medium tactical transport had been sent to bring more supplies to the invading troops, and was sent to Karpeltok alone because, after all, the Lyran fleet had been defeated and driven away.
Except that the Lyrans did not agree that the space battle for the control of Karpeltok was over. They had sent a strong squadron of ships, including a light tactical transport loaded with supplies for their own ground troops, to ensure that the planet remained in their hands. As the squadron approached the planet, a counter-stroke by a Kzinti fleet threatened the area, and the Lyran warships went to engage it. The LTT was sent on to Karpeltok alone because, after all, the only Kzinti ships in the area were over there and about to be engaged by the Lyran squadron.
The result was one of the few duels known to have been fought between LTTs. The battle became a case study at every military academy in the Alpha Octant, and more than a few LTT captains admire the courage and determination of those at Karpeltok.

(8TR9) THE FEDERATION EXCHANGE
Even during wartime, the Orions managed to maintain trade across the Federation-Klingon front lines (and most other front lines). In one case, the Federation captured a freighter under Orion control and, after some fast plea-bargaining, obtained the coordinates for a planned rendezvous with the Klingons. The Federation was able to substitute a Q-ship for the captured freighter, giving the Klingons a considerable surprise.

(8TR10) DEATH OF THE STAR COUGAR
The opening battles of the Klingon invasion in 2571 were desperate ones, as the unprepared Federation Third Fleet tried every gambit and gamble in the book trying to buy enough time for the Home Fleet and other reinforcements to arrive.
Federation scanners detected a Klingon convoy approaching Starbase 15. Hordes of Klingon warships were attacking every target in sight, and Third Fleet intelligence officers predicted that their plan was for each Klingon attack group to head for Starbase 15, with all forces (including the curious convoy) timed to arrive on the same day.
The best guess was that the convoy was a "siege train" with explosive suicide freighters and cargo ships loaded with Klingon troops. It was not under heavy escort because the Klingons wanted to use their warships to attack colonies, stations, patrol ships, and other targets. If that force linked up with the Klingon warships, it could spell the doom of Starbase 15, and collapse the entire Federation front line.
The problem, however, was how to attack this convoy. Only a very fast ship could hope to reach the convoy before the Klingons could divert forces to protect it. The ship sent on the raid would then be trapped behind the lines and might not escape, so a large force could not be spared. Ultimately, the commander of the Third Fleet elected to send only one ship, and had a choice between a fast cruiser and an equally fast light dreadnought, the Star Cougar under Fleet Captain "Wild Bill" Schoeller. Noting that another target would also require a fast raid, Schoeller insisted that the CF Wolverine be sent to attack a Klingon scout ship that was coordinating the various attack forces while his heavier unit went after the convoy. Knowing that he had just condemned his crew to death or capture, Schoeller said in his final letter to his wife that "I only hope that this is all worth it."

Well I picked this up tonight and...I'm sorry to say I'm disappointed.
Ship cards are amazing as are the rules and scenarios.
But since there are no ship counters (or the T7 and Fed tug cards) this supplement will be returned.
For the $30.00+ I would expect at least ship counters...this particular sup feels incomplete to me.
Even after I had read the explanation in the rules. Still not cool as I have to rely on other products (core rules aside) to fully utilize Transports Attacked.
I had incorrectly assumed the notes on the back regarding boosters may have referred to some escorts/freighters/other ships for some of the scenarios and that maybe the ommission of the how many ship counters the product included was because it was no longer needed.
I'm not interested in Hydrans Attack nor do I want to pay extra for spare parts counters.
Not a good experience overall, which is my first for an ADB product.
Cover art is awesome.
