Buzz For this Game

Post by Jeffr0 »

My FLGS does have a couple of SFB items on the shelf... but the owner had a dim view of ADB and a couple other game companies; not sure why.

However... he is a total ACTA fanboy and really likes Mongoose. He showed me ACTA yesterday... and it looks like Starmada, but maybe simpler... and with no map. Ship move is in inches (like CAR WARS!) and you get a specific number of degree turns during your move. Fair enough.

Sounds like a chance to have a local group. His favorite selling point in the game is not just its simplicity, but the randomness in the campaign rules for scenario types and fleet size-- he got really tired of people playing the same Warhammer army over and over and this seemed to nip that sort of thing in the bud. So it's easy to teach, quick to play, and sustainable for long campaigns.

(I was really going to try to sit this one out, but it looks like I'm going to get sucked in here....)

Jeff,

You are correct in your summation.
ACTA: SF will be even faster than Starmada.

You can check this thread for some of our early playtest comments.
Then, this thread for commments on a 15 ship versus 17 ship battle.
And keep an eye on the ACTA topic as we received the latest rules updates today and have several games scheduled for this weekend.
