Wild Weasel Voiding with Tractor Beam

Post by IKerensky »

Hi,

I have trouble understanding the following sentence:

"J3.452- A ship protected by WW cannot be tractored (until the end of the explosion period). (...) The ship can use negative tractor without voiding the WW".

I first thought that WW give the ship immunity to tractoring, but then how can he use negative tractor ? So I thought that perhaps the first sentence mean that a ship protected cannot be tractored without voiding the WW ?

Wich way is it ?

A wild weasel interferes with the tractoring ship's ability to lock onto a protected ship with a tractor beam.

Negative-tractoring is the equivalent to applying a forcefield against a tractor beam. (It does not use active fire control to block a tractor beam) It doesn't xoid a wild weasel.

A ship that has a wild weasel active, cannot use it's own tractor beams without voiding the wild weasel

Thanks for the answer.

But as a clarification : how could you use negative tractor if they cant tractor you ?

Does that mean I can EA energy to the tractor without voiding the WW ? so this energy will be ready as soon as the WW is voided ?

Yes. Tractor beams would have to be dropped if they were in use at the time a wild weasel was deployed, losing the use of that tractor and it's corresponding energy for the remainder of the turn and be unavailable until the wild weasel effects vanish.

However, any power already used for negative tractor energy remains active and is available once wild weasel effects are over.
