Great! Now I have to but and paint 3 Battleships! One in traditional Kzinti colors... 1 in Tiger stripes... and the "K.H.S. Kermit" in multi-hued green! 8)

I like the Lyran DNL and the C5 - but the Seltorian ship looks a little squished.

Oh, I think I know why - it's not a Hive ship.

Hive ships are supposed to have eight bays - this one only has six. It's a Nest Ship....

...so while it will match the BW, it's too small to represent the eight-bay historical HVS which arrived in the Milky Way at the head of the Tribunal.

EDIT: And speaking of Lyrans, are there plans to make an NCA model in time for Distant Kingdoms?

Well, in Federation Commander the distinction between a Hive Ship and Nest Ship has been, uh, blurred. It appears that in Federation Commander, there is no Nest Ship, and the Hive Ship (and resultant Battle Wagon) has six bays.

I quote from Battleships Attack:
The Tholians prohibited their Seltorian underlings from owning battleships, preserving a combat advantage in the event of a rebellion. The Seltorians were allowed to operate massive cargo-factory-base ships of the Hive and Nest classes to conduct operations directed by The Will.

So, there are both Hive Ships and Nest Ships available to Seltorians in FC, as they are in SFB.

However, herein lies the rub.

Not only does the image of a ship used in BA show the eight-bay Hive Ship, the later text says:
Their solution was to load rows of weapons in the cargo basys of the Hive ships, creating what was, arguably, the most powerful ship (even if not a "war" ship) in either galaxy.

So, it may be that the Seltorians built smaller and larger Battlewagons, with some based off of Hive ships and others off Nest ships?

But that would still mean that if a Hive Ship Card is ever made for FC, the model for the BW is not accurate as a means of representing it...

...and those minis are available to SFB players, too.

(Of course, if someone makes a model of an eight-bay Hive Ship eventually, that would be handy, too!)

Gary, the simple solution is to purchase two of them. Cut the front two bays off of one and the back two bays off of the other, pin and glue them togateher, and VIOLA! - an 8-Bay Hive ship.

Oh great... Now that I've thought of it.. I have to do it. That means 3 BW's. One to paint as a 6 bay version adn 2 to convert to the 8-bay version.

And I'll still be able to glue the off-cuts together to make a 4-bay version.

I know what you mean. I got to hold the master for the King Condor at Origins. I didn't want to give it up. I wanted to hide in a corner with my paits and brushes and not come out unitl I hada fully-painted King Condor, but I was over-powered by the 53 other SFB'ers there that wanted to have the master cast adn released for sale...

Sorry, I couldn't resist that one.

Nice idea - tough you'd be doing the fanbase a favour if you made sure your converted 8-bay Hive ship (and your 4-bay 'Lair Ship?') were usable as master moulds, and sent them to ADB!

Oh, and about that Lyran NCA question...
