I wasn't going to say anything, but since Steve did, I will pile on a bit.

What you have looks more like a BC-equivalent ship, let's say an "NBC New Battlecruiser". It is beefier and more powerful than an NCA, which is good, but it is way too small to be a DN-equivalent ship. The rear hull would need to be significantly bigger to make it into the DNW.

The unfortunate part of this is that this ship looks pretty cool. To make the rear hull beefy enough to be a DNW, the ship will start to look rather unweildy and probably pretty ugly. Basically, that rear hull part will need to be 75%-90% of the mass of the saucer itself. It is big.

So, let's call your new ship an NBC and ignore that nasty ol' ugly DNW. :)

what if it had the DN saucer, and then extend the deck house area further back down the nacelles. Kinda filling in the space between a little.

Hmmm, I see. I appreciate these comments! Fortunately I still have some NCL hulls left, and I don't really feel like tearing this one apart, although it feels weird that it doesn't fit into SFU. So here are some drawings that I've come up with.

And heres a CL imposed over the drawing.

I managed to find some info on it in a mod for SFC:OP but I am not sure how accurate it is, but I haven't placed any weapons yet. But I did get the 6 photons right on the first one, if the mod ssd is correct.

Comments, criticisms, and suggestions are definitely welcome! For some reason I really want to make this mini and make it right. I have no idea why, haha, but I do. Thanks guys!

-Looking at it, it probably should be bigger...

Yeah, that last drawing and overlay look more like it. Like I said, you should probably aim for a secondary hull that is roughly rectangular and is 75%-90% of the mass of the saucer. Then go from there.

And, since you don't have the SSD, let me give you a few other detail that should help out.
- The saucer is an unmodified NCL.
- The fifth and sixth photons stick out the front of the rear hull.
- There is a tractor emitter fore and another one aft.
- There are four 360 Ph-1s and four drone racks amid ship.
- There are two RA Ph-1s aft.
- The secondary hull outline is a perfect rectangle.
- The engines are the the rear and sides on the SSD.
- There is no shuttle bay in the secondary hull.

Putting that together, the secondary hull has to be low enough to allow the extra photons to fire past the saucer's sensor dish. The two new engines cannot droop below the bottom of the hull. The bottom of the hull is likely fairly flat. (Both because of the 360 Ph-1s.) The hull also has to leave both the impulse ports and the shuttle doors unobstructed, as they are both only present on the saucer.

Right now, it looks too much like the Stargazer from ST:TNG. I think making the aft hull larger will make it look less so.

Ok Thanks! Thats just what I needed. I think my first drawing could work for the shape, maybe bigger, or longer at least.

Small update:

I had some time to work on this today so I thought I'd post my progress.

I modified my design with mjwest's specs, whilst keeping some artistic license. The secondary hull is pretty rectangular with a few sections hanging off just for detail. The aft section was inspired by the POL and how its aft section tapirs off. It hangs low via the DW style connector so that the impulse and the shuttle bay are usable. I kinda wish I could have done something more like the NCA addon that connects to the body, but i wanted to do it via the ssd.

Ok here it is pretty much done. I think the paint could use some work and the blemishes on the underside of the nacelles are irritating, but I think it turned out ok, although I think I got to happy with the Gundam Paint Pen... Sorry about the bad photography, I need to get my photo box out.

I like it. That turned out very well.

I really like the lines of the struts that support the lower engines.

Great job!

Looks great! And no longer looks like the Stargazer. I would like to see a head-on view photo.
