Drone Launch in same hex as target

Post by Finman »

Hello - first post here. We're just finishing up the (probably) 5th game of FC, after a LONG break from SFB. Ran into a situation on a Kzinti ship wanting to launch drones at a target ship in the same hex.

The rules state (4F2c), "if a seeking weapon is launched in the same hex as it's target, it will not impact until the movement portion of the next impulse (by which time the target may or may not have moved out of the hex.)"

Our question is, when is the "movement portion" of the next impulse? Is it sub-pulse 1 of the next impulse (even though the drone doesn't actually "move"), or when the drone moves in the next impulse, after sub-pulse 4, or at some other time in the sub-pulses?

It only makes a difference as it determines which shield is hit.

Appreciate any insight (and appropriate rules reference) someone can provide.

It is after subpulse-1 of the next impulse, which might allow a ship at speed 24+1 to completely escape.
