Very cool ideas Darkwing! I especially like the idea of the BC conversion into a FJ-style Fleet Tug. I've got one without a good secondary hull that I could put into use this way.

Here is my take on the Federation heavy drone cruiser (CAD) Agincourt. I thought I'd try something a little different with this one and model the special sensors that are shown on the SSD. I chose an unusual placement for the sensor, that I think might give you a chuckle. I also used the same square decals I used on my DDGs to depict the drone launchers. They do not line up with what is shown on the SSD, but I am happy with it. I also pretend that the sensor dish does not interfere with the port side phasers. 8)

Anyway, I present to you the Agincourt.

Thanks for the comments and encouragement in the comments above. :D

I have been kicking around some ideas about how to build some minis for some of the ships in the Magellanic Cloud as shown in SFB Module C5. My first attempt is a small fleet of Maghadim ships. These are at an early stage of building, but in case anyone wanted to try some thing like this, I thought I would share these pictures to show how I'm doing it.

I started thinking that these would be FFs and CLs (as Maghadim CLs are FFs with one of several "collars" added between the forward and aft hull). However, as I looked at the mockups of the FFs, they were just way too large. These are now DDs and CAs, with the CAs being DDs with a collar added between the two hulls. It makes coming up with mini's a bit easier, as all you need is a supply of several of these colored rhinestone beads to get started.

(Please forgive the dust, and the CAs do not sit well on the stands yet)

Here is a closer view of the heavy cruisers.

And a shot allowing you to see the modular type of construction, a CA just has that collar inserted between the hulls.

For size comparison, posed with a Federation cruiser.

One more shot that begs a question...why am I building a CA that is less than an inch long? That's it on its back near the CA's clear base.

OK, I finally have the Maghadim fleet painted. I think they turned out pretty well. At first, I was hesitant to paint the collars on the CAs the lighter color as seen in the one picture of Maghadim ships I could find. I wanted a consistent finish among the three sections of the ships, but I came up with a compromise and I like the crackled finish.

Anyway, here are the pictures:

First up, a shot of the whole fleet, 2 CAs and 3 DDs:

A couple of close shots a CA:

One of the DDs:

A smaller task force:

And then the answer to that question...Why did I make a CA that was about 1 inch long?

A Maghadim Shipyard!!!

And here are some Klingons, just because everyone loves Klingons:

The asteroid shipyard is a nice touch; though, of course, one would hope those Klingons are merely making a stopover before both sides team up to go hunt some Andromedans!

(Actually, I had once made an effort to try and scratchbuild a Baduvai CS when back in Ireland; but, since my own modelling skills are rather lacking, I had to abandon the project, and hope that the Imperium might be better served by a more talented artist in the future.)

Thanks, Nerroth. And yes, those Klingons are there to lend their disruptors to a hunt. The Klingon Empire has no desire to try and control territory THAT far out...at this time.

Here are some quick monsters I whipped up from a set or pre-historic dinosaur toys I picked up from the craft store. Seriously, these are just pre-painted toys with holes drilled in them for the stands, but they make nice sunsnakes, or whatever else you might want to fight.
The last two shots are fishing lures which are made of a gel substance that simulates a partially transparent flesh. Kind of cool. You can see their GUTS!

I have thought about that. Could make for some interesting mash-up scenarios.

The Unseen University could be classed as a planetary defence system.

I have posted a couple of pictures featuring some asteroids before, but for no particular reason I set them all up on a map just to see what they would look like. I think I made way too many, but you know what they say - more is better. :)

A couple of D6s are searching for a C8 boom following a catastrophic accident near the Tholian border. Unknown to anyone, a NeoTholian ship (a SL 2400 BB standing in for a CA) is on patrol in the same asteroid field.

Who knows...there may be some Jindarians hiding in there as well. This battle could get very interesting in a moment.

Here are a few interesting ships, some fresh from the shipyard.

First up is one of the three Sparrowhawks that came into Klingon service, known as the RKLs. I decided to 'get dangerous' on this one and give it a purple stripe on the port side.

Here is IKV Darkwing:

This next one is a SL2400 F5W modified to become a police G4. Note the extended shuttlebay and the large sensor dish.

Image

And just because you don't see these very often, here is one of the smallest scouts in Imperial service - the E4S.
