Skexis walks into the tavern just in time to overhear a man talking to Marcus and Captain Jack:
He shows them a wafer hanging from a chain around his neck. He explains that it is a key to lockbox 9674-A2.He says there's a package in it that he needs to have delivered to a man named Urkinu Gamega and who will be here shortly. He says he has urgent business to attend to and can't make the delivery himself... and he offers them $500 up front... and an extra $500 after the delivery has been made.

Well played, sir! I haven't decided what status is for, yet, but we can figure that out later if it seems like it should ever matter. Though it would make sense if they could be cashed in for rank, contacts, allies, or favors at some point.]
And now...
[Skexis earns one Character point for the scene with the crate... and has one point of "status" vis-a-vis the subject race group on the ship in shore-side situations. (Look out for the Dunkar accountant to request Skexis for future gigs.) I never imagined that there'd be scenes where failing your skill rolls would result in the best outcome... but this sure was it. Skexis kept his cool when he was provoked, though-- no telling what would have happened if he had gone crazy. At any rate... fun scene. Way to make it work!]

Captain Jack smiles and looks at Marcus and says: "Lockbox 9674-A2, eh? Urgent business, eh? Wow, I've never seen a more obvious trap... What do you think Marcus, wanna have some fun, crack some skulls, and spring the trap?"
[GM pushes things forward instead of playing out every detail of the conversation. Though if you all were posting often I would have role played that some.]
Skexis, Jack, and Marcus talk to the man, but he is extremely jittery. You don't seem to get any more significant information out of him, but you notice that he keeps looking at some cloaked figures in the corner. Even though the tavern is relatively cool, the man is sweating profusely.
Before you can solidify the deal, he almost absentmindedly scatters 500 credits and the lock box wafer on the table and then heads out the main exist at a rapid pace.
[GM Note: Life is tough right now on the other side of the screen... but for this sequence... I will not be responding to your actions unless at least two people respond. Player character interaction is something we can't gloss over here.]

Captain Jack picks up the 500 credits, hands the credits to Skexis, and puts the lock box wafer in he pocket, looks at the others and take a quick visual scan around the bar. Then he proceeds to walk out the bar towards the storage lockers area... "Come on guys, we got a pizza to deliver..." [OOC] He is staying super alert, and ready to fast draw his phaser at any point... [/OOC]
Jack has the lock box wafer in his pocket. Jack is super-alert and ready to fast-draw.
Skexis has 500 credits now. (Which is useful for him-- he got swindled for everything he had on that body armor he bought in Donjebruche!)
Skexis listens in on the booth the guy kept looking at. He hears: "No... I'm not taking the gig. I don't wanna go anywhere near the place. Space around there's getting weirder all the time. Besides... Jarvis took the last shipment. We haven't heard from him since! I don't care how good the money is.... No, I don't know how I'm going to make the payments... but it won't be that way!"
The smoke in the tavern gets so thick, you finally have to step outside just to breath. When you do.... Skexis and Marcus (but not Captain Jack!) hear ever-so-faintly a sighing/crying/moaning sound from a nearby side-passage. "Help me... uhhrnh... please...!"
[OOC] I'm pausing to see what Marcus and Skexis is going to do however, it will be at the same time unless they alert Captain Jack about what they hear... Not sure how else to do this by post without them going first...[/OOC]

[GM: Actually, you have the right of it. Normally I'm pretty free as to who knows what. But this time... Captain Jack doesn't know about the screams unless Skexis or Marcus fill him in on it! And such high perception Jack has, too....]
Skexis walks to the intersection with the side passage... he sees sort of a curving tunnel-like alley-- he can see down it about 40 yards or so. It is deserted except for a body lying in a pool of blood about halfway down it. Its... the guy from the tavern that just threw the lockbox wafer and 500 credits on your table...! [Cue dramatic music.]
[Marcus and Jack can choose to have followed Skexis to look down the passageway at their option. Skexis will have priority in action/reaction resolution, but don't feel like you have to wait on him to announce your own actions.]
