Gorn and Kzinti Fleet Boxes
I recently received the Kzinti and Gorn fleet boxes. Both were in really good shape, not a problem in either to speak of other than a bit of breakage on the Kzinti DN, but nothing a bit of superglue can't fix.
I hope I can get metal DN's one day. This resin is weird, feels like a bar of soap. I'm afraid to do anything with it, at least with the metal I feel like it will last as long as the game system.
Oh yeah, ship combination of the Gorn box seems more balanced than the Kzinti. Kzinti needs more smaller ships, gotta find more frigates somewhere.

Got my X-mas present in yesterday.
A Gorn fleet box.
After all the previous issues with Mongoose minis, my wife let me open it to confirm accuracy of contents and quality of pieces. Everything was present and accounted for - including an all-metal Gorn DN.
[Is this typical of th Gorn boxes, or did I just get lucky?]
Quality-wise, this wasthe best box to date. about 10 minutes with a needle file and 15 of the 16 ships will be ready to prime. One of the CLs has a bit more flash than the others, but even that can be repaired in 5 or 6 minutes.
All of the engines were dry fit to the hulls to check how well they matched.
Nacelles with pins/divots fit well with little or no gap remaining.
Nacelles with slots/tabs fit well enough to stay in place with no adhesive.
All in all, this was what I expect of miniatures. No complaints and I hope this means that mongoose is finally getting past the potholes and speed bumps associated with the initial releases.
Great job on these minis, Matt. Thanks.

That is good news!
I'm glad that this is my first fleet box.
(I did not open mine yet, but I will report on it when I do....)

Yep. And if "I" buy another fleet box, it'll be from ADB.Steve Cole wrote:And we have QCed Gorn Boxes in stock.
I didn't buy hte las one, it was a gift and the gifter has already been suitably admonished to insure that future purchases are made post-QC check from ADB.
I did think the improvemnet in Mongoose production was worthy of a report, hence the initial post.

Great. I would like to see singles of the Kzinti BC. I will probably substitue BCHs in battles since they are almost the same.
It is odd for a BC to not be in the squadron box and only 1 in the fleet box. I will probably opt for Kzinti squadron boxes only since the fleet box seems to have 4 CLs and 4 CMs. I have never needed that many of the same hull type in a battle before, unless rarely is was a heavy cruiser hull.
The mix of ships in the Federation and Klingon fleet boxes seems more balanced than the Gorn and Kzinti boxes to me.

I can think of some alternate uses for the surplus Kzinti CLs - convert to a CVL, or a CLD. CMs, convert one to a MSC. But yeah, 4 CLs is rather excessive.marcus_aurelius wrote:Great. Gorn CL, convert to a CLS...
I've used squadrons of 3 NCL, 3 D5, as well as a NCA + 2 NCL or D5W + 2 D5.
My son is blown away by the detail on the Gorn. He can totally see the difference between these and other lines of figures... and he's only nine.
Everything in the box looks good, but I don't think the cover image matches what's inside-- I can't find the 3 HDD's on the cover for example. My fleet doesn't care about that... but I just noticed it while doing inventory. (Everything in the box matches what Mongoose says should be in there on their web site... it just doesn't match up to the cover image.... So I'm not complaining... just picking a nit.)
Also: all of my Gorn ships are metal. Sweeeeeeeeet!!!!

I feel the inverse of that sentiment; perhaps we should meet up sometime before the next big purchase, too.Bill Stec wrote:Cool, has me wanting a Gorn box as well. I have Roms to work on, though I will need their natural enemies (Gorns)...
