Commander Options for FC?

Commander Options for FC?

I recently saw where SVC asked why FC players asked for specific point cost ships. The answer turned out to be that SFB has commander options and FC doesn't. That means SFB players can use all the BPV to have equivalent forces, but FC can't. So I started thinking why not have something like commander options for FC? I am not suggesting SFB commander options, but a completely different set of options for FC. My thoughts were something like this:

Overstaffed Engineering: X BPV = +1 repair rating
- This doesn't change any rules or add complications, just gives more repair to a ship

Legendary Officers: X BPV gives you a legendary officer
- Honestly always liked LOs, but they aren't really all that complicated to add either. May need to rework a couple to keep them simple. I wouldn't add any rules about killing them. Just if their ship is destroyed/disengaged, then their BPV is included in the defeat.

Extra Shield Generators: X BPV = shields regenerates at 1 power for 1 shield
- This might be too much, but it's a fairly simple bonus.

I think this would fix the BPV issue without adding any complexity.

Simplicity:

FC was about Simplicity. Though as things go along, it is losing some of that.

I do not want to add legendary officers to FC.

I do not want to invent new rules like improved damage control and extra shields either. Either would fundamentally change the game.

The things that commander points are spent on in SFB are for the most part not in FC. Given the way the ship cards work I dont think buying extra marines is a good idea.
