Federation with "weathering"

Post by marcus_aurelius »

Instead of clean and pristine Federation ships I wanted to take the beaten down and war weary approach. The base hull color is gull grey and the weathering is done in diluted watercolor black and rust washes. The weathering does not come out as clearly and I would like in the pictures.

I like it.

I do a bit of weathering on my Feds (the "rust ring" on the saucer tops and a little bit of gray leading-edge streaking).

Just out of professional curiosity, are those the Mongoose/ADB decals? They look quite nice and I think this might be the first pictures I've seen of them applied (outside of the official "store" pictures).

Yes they are the Moongoose/ADB decals. The only decals that are not are the decals behind the bridge (yellow rectangle) and between the warp engines (red stripes) on the old CL; those are from my 2400 star fighter decals stock.

Looking great!

That comparison shot really drives it home. The old SL2400 NCA just doesn't do it for me any more. The SL2500 is sooo much better.

They look lovely. The weathering suits them. :)

I just got in my 1st 2500 - the DNG, along with the decals. If the weather holds tomorrow she's ready to prime, and hopefully Konkordium will sail soon.

I hope she turns out as nicely as your ships.
Please Captain, not in front of the Klingons.
