I think I misunderstand how drones work...

Post by Captain Nebula »

I have a couple of questions about drones I think I might be misundersanding:

1.) How often can you fire drones in a Turn? Is it just however many drone 'weapons' are shown under the Weapons Used or is it until the rack is empty?

2.) How does a drone run out of fuel? There are two sections that talk about drones running out of fuel, but I can't seem to find the rules for when or how a drone actually runs out of fuel.

Sorry if these have been brought up before.

Thanks,

CN

Each drone rack, i.e. box actually in the ship that would take damage, usually marked X, Y, Z can fire once a turn. Normal drone racks have 4 drones so can fire 4 times (over 4+ turns) before needing reloading.

At the end of each turn you 'dot' each drone in flight, no matter how long it has been out. When you would put the 4th dot on you remove it. So drone will be out for at least 3 full turns, and maybe almost 4 depending when in the turn you launched it.

Lee's answers are correct.

The last sentence of (4G2) specifically states that each drone rack can launch one drone per turn.

Rule (4G6) covers the fuel limits of a drone. It says that it will run out of fuel at the end of the third turn after launch. So, if a drone is launched on Turn #1 (regardless of which impulse the drone was launched in), it will run out of fuel and be removed from play at the end of Turn #4.

I use X's instead of dots.

First turn is a slash, second makes the X, third is vertical, fourth is gone
