Cloaking questions

Post by Jiraiya1969 »

Greetings.

I am interested in trying out Romulans for the first time and the cloaking rules have me a bit buggered... :D

- Per 5P2, do you pay the individual cloak cost for 4 individual impulses and then fade-out on the fourth impulse or do you multiply the cloak cost by 4 all on one impulse? I ask because of the wording in the 5P3f example. If the former, do you do this secretly or inform your opponent?

- After fully cloaking, do you have to pay the cloaking cost per impulse during the OFP. Is their some difference between paying this cost per impulse and paying it during the end of the turn?

Thanks. I'll probably have more questions later.

The cost that you see printed for cloak,is for the turn,not/impulse.

I think the way it works is that the cloaking cost provided is per impulse, not per turn. Taking the Sqn scale Skyhawk, which has a cloaking cost of 1, when the cloak is activated you pay the minimum cost of 4 impulses of cloaking, in this case a easily calculated 4 energy points in the "Other Functions" phase. It is worth noting that if you chose to uncloak before the 4 impulses are complete, you don't get a refund. After the fourth impulse cloaked, you must pay for the next impulse (1 point) or begin fading in immediately. If the Skyhawk was to be cloaked for the entire turn, the total cloaking cost is 8 power.
Nothing is quite as persuasive as a disruptor pistol on slow burn and a rotisserie......
