lol I know its an odd thing to ask. I just find the idea of a little PC towing around a full size pod funny and i kind of want to build one now

Tholian/Federation cargo pods
In module r4 I saw that the Tholians got a hold of some fed cargo pods and from a mini standpoint have have a few questions. First off other then the tug that comes in the squadron box #91 is there a mini that comes with the cargo pod? Also what was to connection like between the PC and pod? was it a physical link or more of a tractor beam type setup?

ah ok thanks for the info i'll check out the LTT. it shouldn't be to hard to make a little connector from the PC to the pod then. something that makes it look like its not just sitting on it.Dal Downing wrote:Fed LTT is available in the 2400 range with a pod.
As far as how a PC carries it I believe there is a clamp that plugs in where they carry the cargo packs.
I know in the module its all black and white pics but wonder if the Tholians kept the pods color or did they paint them copper to match there ships.

Probably both. If they have the time they would probably paint them but, if they were received during the height of Operation Nutcracker they probably started using them figuring if they live through it they would then paint them.

I thought I had photos of my CPC... but I guess I didn't.
Even though I tend to go overboard with my kit-bashes... (or so I've been told)... I did this one the easy way.
The Fed pod fits directly beneath the mini and if allowed to touch the wings obscures any need for a mounting lug.
I simply worked up a small ball of 'green stuff'
Stuck it to the Fed pod (where the clamp would be)
And pressed it against the bottom of the PC.
The green stuff squeezed to match the ship of the PC and stuck the pod on when hardened.
As for painting...
Since the Tholians se in infra-red, I painted the pod to match the ship. That way, they can see it with their naked eyes when in proximity.
Or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Another option would be Squadron Box #91, which includes the Fed fleet tug, with two pods and an assortment of end-caps. One of those can get used for other things, if-desired.
Pods can be easily scratch-built too. Some styrene plastic or brass tube from the hobby shop cut to length with a little bit of putty in the ends serves admirably.

that would make sense then to color it copper... lol I wouldn't want the Tholians bumping into the pod by accident...Scoutdad wrote:I thought I had photos of my CPC... but I guess I didn't.

I don't have green stuff yet sadly and I never used it before.. djdood was telling me about in in my minis thread and it sounds like useful stuff. I think what i'll do is make a connector out of the sprue my firehawk mini came with. I can cut and file it down to size. on a side note i'm also thinking about building a CW with a battle pod once i get green stuff. I think it would go nicely with my fleet. Thanks again for the millionth time
Three pods went in the mail today. I hope they help.
I figured out why there were no photos of my CPC... I never finished painting it.
I dug it out of the Tholian box to photograph... and It's only base coated.
But... since i'm working on Tholians for ACTASF now, that's good incentive to finish painting it this weekend.
And since I'm designing a decal sheet for Tenneshington Decals to sell for Tholians... that's double incentive to finish.

Since i had your address handy from mailing the pods... i did a quick Google search.MAtchstick808 wrote: I don't have green stuff yet sadly and I never used it before.. djdood was telling me about in in my minis thread and it sounds like useful stuff...
You have a Hobby Lobby in your home town. They carry two-part epoxy putty in their model section.
you also have a HobbyTown U.S.A., which is an even better source.
They typically carry Kneadatite epoxy putty from Gale Force Nine (this is the typical green stuff we mention)
They also typically carry Milliput brand epoxy putty, again in the model section.
Just in case you're looking...
