LDR PFT

Post by Scharwenka »

Here is a work in progress of a PFT with a PF launching. What do you think?

Watch your weapon arcs. The LS/RS phasers are blocked by the thickness of the docking wings. Looks real nice otherwise.

Good catch! I really like the PFs on the sides of the docking wings, but to match arcs I might have to move those 2 to the underside and mount the phasers there instead.

Should be some special sensors, replace the disruptors if I remember correctly.

I did indeed forget the sensors! Forward disruptors were replaced with the phasers mounts on the nose of the pontoons. Will have an updated picture later today. Thanks!

Very nice.

Out of curiosity, what is the relative size ratio between one of the gunboats and the PFT? In other words, how many times bigger is the PFT than a single gunboat?

Aren't PFTs usually about the size of a small frigate?

According to the SIT the Lyran PFT is based on the DD hull, which is what this is supposed to be (modified from my LDR War Cruiser I did for ME, I'm also using the artwork from the 1" counter from long ago). As for the actual PF size, I'm eye balling it so if someone has a better size, I can adjust them accordingly.

According to the Klingon Gunboat Deck Plans, a G1 is 32 meters long and 24 meters wide. Since fast patrol ships are pretty uniform, I would venture to say that most are of a similar size.

So, on average across the empires, what is a DD's length? About 200m or so?

If that's true and we stick with the 32 m PF, then these would be pretty close as I can get 6 nose to tail on this puppy....err...kitty?

Next I will do the PFW.

Yeah, pretty much. The Fed DD is longer than an average DD just because it is a cruiser saucer and a single engine sticking way out the aft. :D
