Question on New Fighter Rules
5Q1g2
In the case of allocating damage to a fighter swarm we ran into this situation in a recent game with the new rules.
The attacker fires two overloaded disruptors at a fighter swarm and scores 10 damage plus 10 damage. The owner of the fighters, as per rule 5Q1g2, decides to apply 10 damage to fighter number 1. Fighter number one had 12 points and now after the damage it has only 2 points left. The owner of the fighters then applies the next 10 damage to the same fighter--fighter #1--and so the fighter is destroyed but 8 points of damage are lost.
Did we play this out properly?

According to my understanding of the rules, that is correct, yes.
The attacker does lose 8 points of damage. The fighter swarm rules do give the fighter-owning player a slight advantage in exchange for operating fighters in swarms.

Thanks Terry. The rules worked quite well on our first try.
Although it was frustrating for the attacking player (I was the attacking player) I can't say it influenced the game too much one way or another--I lost the scenario but it wasn't as a result of that attack. We'll keep playing the rules and I'll let the board know what we find.

There is a definite disadvantage to using all of one's fighters in a swarm so I think the ability to allocate damage is a balance that works well although when I met the rule first-hand it came as a surprise--I wouldn't have used both overloaded disruptors if I had known but that's on me.
I like the rules so far and Battlegroup Toronto will continue to play with them and post about our games.

These rules can be found in Communique #128. It is towards the end of the Communique.

If you mean Star Fleet Battles modules, they are in Module J. But those are SFB style counters as far as I know.
If you mean Federation Commander, then fighters for most empires have not yet been published in a module. Hydran Stingers are in Distant Kingdoms, which has Hyrans and counters for them. Ship Cards and details for non-Hydran fighters have also been published in Communique, which can be downloaded for free in the Commander's Circle section of this website. I don't think any Federation Commander-style counters have been published for those ships and fighters yet.

Terry is correct. You can get Hydran fighter counters in the Hydran module. Other fighters do not yet have counters, as the rules have not yet been formally published in printed form yet. They will be included in that future module.
If you want counters now, you can buy SFB counters as spare parts. The primary source would be Module J, but that would not have the prettier FC style counters. Some other modules also include fighters, but I am not sure if they include newer style printing.

Launching of planet-based fighters
I'm working on something that will have a dozen fighters based on a planet. Since it is a planet instead of a carrier, could multiple flights take off and land during the same Impulse?
