How's this for a Federation Starbase?!

Post by trynda1701 »

I posted this last night over on the BBS, and thought I'd share it here too.

So, I know from past discussions, it is impractical to have stations and Starbases to scale in the SL2400 or SL2500 scales, but this has to be shown for the sheer coolness factor!

And yes, those minis are Gamescience 1/3788 Federation starships and kitbashes!

Enjoy! :D 8) 8) 8) 8)

Very cool display.

Looks like they used the new Polar Light "Lost in Space" 'Derelict' kit as the main portion of it. Nicely done.

*whistles*

That calls for like a $150 resin model.

By the way, here is the link to John Paynes' website for his kitbashed starship models, showing Moebius Station off in all of its deep space splendor!

Amazing work! The Gamescience minis really set the scale of the station off very nicely, don't they? 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Starship Modeler did a group build of folks on their board from around the world that was similar to this, except HUGE. The station used 1/1000-scale Polar Lights Enterprise kits for the kitbashed ships arrayed around it, displayed together at WonderFest 2004.

Ok, that is also impressive! Over three feet tall, and all the time it took to set up at the convention! Wow!

Next scale up, use the size of models from the original AMT kits! I remember years ago seeing in one of the UK wargaming magazines, that some club kitbashed some Federation and Klingon minis from the TMP Enterprise and TMP K'tinga kits that were available shortly after the first Trek movie, can't remember their scale.

The models included a TMP refit version of a DN! The models were moved around the gaming hall on four foot poles, and I think they had three people 'commanding' each ship!

Wish I could find pictures or a copy of the magazine again! Anyone in the UK know what I'm talking about?

It's pretty neat to see in-motion (the motorized the base).
