Prime Directive: Traveller - Getting Ready !

Post by domingojs23 »

Dear Friends,

Kia Ora !

Let us keep our fingers and tentacles crossed that PD:T will be coming out soon.

In the mean time, I'd like to come "back to the fold" of the SF universe after a long long absence. As I said in my last post in my GURPS "Cardinal of Klinzai" Campaign, I would continue it under Traveller rules. Well, we have been (patiently) waiting, and we of course understand why there have been delays. We are thankful that Steve and Jean are "back in the saddle" and look forward to better days ahead.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to make good on my posted promises to do any other SF stuff back in the Philippines. I've now moved to New Zealand. Actually I'm busier than ever, but I am confident I can set my mind to setting up a PD:T campaign in one form or another.

For now, I'd just like to "shout out" to fellow SFU Traveller-heads and ask for a head count ! Who here is still looking forward to PD:T ? And if so, what sort of campaign do you envision running / playing in ? Ie - Bridge Crew, Prime Team, Fighter Squadron, Spy Aventure, Marine Unit, etc ? How would you work in starship combat, and what scale and rules would you use ? Would you use Starfleet Marines ? What other ideas / thoughts do y'all have on this ?

For me, I'd really like to go back to my "Cardinal" idea and capture the atmosphere of the Earth 1960s Cold War Spy Era, and run a Tom Clancy / James Bond scenario...

Another is revisit the "Nazis in Space" episode of Original S.T. and run Feds vs Space Nazis and their Klink advisers...then a Hogan's Heroes POW situation with a literal "Colonel Klink" hahahaha...

I know intellectual property issues are always of concern with the SFU, but I don't think there should be a problem with "mashups" with the Second World War :-)

Thanks !

Cheers,

Gary

I'm looking forward to it! I just had confirmation that it is still on its way and not vaporware as I had assumed. Very excited! And that it is Mongoose Traveller 2nd Edition.
