Fed DD variants

Post by cnuzzi »

I noticed that on the Fed DD ship card it says that some variants replace two of the four photons with drone racks or PL-F. It even has ammo and arming tracks for these. Are there designations for these variants? DDG for the drone version, perhaps? As for the PL version, DDF can't be used since it is already in use for the Fast DD, so what would it be called? Finally, is there a "DDP" version like the BCP that mounts two extra PH-1 in place of the two photons?

Also, why does the Fed DD have the same turn mode as a CA?

You are correct that the DDG is the drone armed variant.

The plasma armed variant is the DDL.

There is no variant the replaces two photons with Ph-1.

And the DD should have a turn mode slightly better than that of a CA. If it's the same, then that's a mistake that was never caught.

OK, so Turn Mode C (like the Middle Years version) rather than D?

I gotta look at the turn mode thing before clearing that.

On the other hand, DDP is worth being sent to Petrick as an obvious variant. It has to be approved for SFB before it could be in FC.

It is such an obvious variant, that I had assumed it was pretty much already rejected. It just seems that taking a small 100 point ship and loading it down with eight phaser-1s was just asking for trouble. That is pretty brutal. Heck, at that point the photons just become ornamentation.

Federation destroyer card C5 has a turn mode of D. This is the plasma-F variant.

Fed DD card R4 has a turn mode of C.

Fed DDF card C502 has a turn mode of C.
