Looking at a fairly big (1,000 point limit) force of ISC against an undetermined opponent.
My force will have six ships (and thus is limited to no more than 6 PPDs). I have picked the following four ships as my base:
2 x Star Cruisers (2 PPDs, 1 per ship)
2 x Destroyers
I now want to decide between two options:
Option A: Dreadnought (DNP, 4 PPDs) and Light Cruiser (CL, 0 PPDs)
Option B: Dreadnought (DNT, 2 PPDs) and Light Cruiser (CS, 2 PPDs)
Option A clusters my PPDs and allows the DNP to hold back while the CL moves up to support the DDs, but it also ties up more of the dreadnought's power. I'm also worried that it puts too many of my eggs in one basket, as losing that one ship takes out 2/3 of the fleet's PPDs. Right now I'm learning towards going with Option B, but I'm interested to hear others' opinions.
Do you prefer to clump your PPDs or do you spread them out?

I do want to note that the original question is from three years ago, so I doubt the OP is going to see any of this.
Paul,
You are answering the wrong question. The question isn't which ship to shoot at, but rather how to distribute the PPDs of the OP's fleet. Should he concentrate the PPDs on a standard dreadnought and give it a CL companion, or should he spread the PPDs across a DNT and a CS companion?
