Rules Question

Post by Phythalion »

Rule (L5.17b) states " Units cannot support the fire of more powerful units." I cannot find any place in the rules that state which units are more powerful than others. My only assumption is Units that have better odds (with or without die roll modifiers?) against a particular target on the combat table cannot help Units that have lesser odds (again with or with modifiers) on the combat table against that particular target. Perhaps I have missed this but clarification would be great!

The further qualification given in the updated Star Fleet Marines Battle Manual is:
"A tank could contribute supporting fire to a GCV (or an infantry squad), but a GCV could not contribute supporting fire to a tank. A Marine squad can support the fire of a militia squad, but a militia squad cannot support the fire of a Marine squad."

So, it appears that it kinda differentiates by combat effectiveness. That would mean, in order of most powerful to least powerful:
- Tank, GAV, GWV, Turret
- Heavy Wpn, GCV
- Marine, Army Commando, Prime Team, APV, CEV, Sniper
- Militia, HQ
- Armed Truck, CPV, THZ, AMV
