Monitor in miniature

Post by Scoutdad »

For my 666th post, I thought I give yall a sneak peek at what I've been working on.

At Origins, I showed SVC the scratchbuilt Monitor miniature I had done. Unfortunately, it had been created from styrene and plastic scraps, but he was interested. Steve told me that if I could get him a castable version, he would attempt to put it in production. Real life has lept me from working on it until the recent holiday season (when I had a few vacation days to burn). After a few false starts, I finally got the major issues licked and began to work on it in earnest. I am headed to Chicago for a week tomorrow morning, but once I get back... I'll add the engines, the weapon mounts, and the small details and it'll be done.

Below is a picture of it in it's current state. As soon as it's cleaned up a bit and the above items are added - it goes in the mail to ADB; and hopefully by Origins this year everyone can have their very own, scale miniature of the montior o defend your planets and bases...

You think that's something... you should see the 1/8 scale mock-up I did to get the details correct!!!

The neighbor kids are using it for a fortress / club-house.

The monitor is finished and went in the mail to SVC this afternoon. Hopefully, we'll be seeing it in an Orion Attack border box... 8)

Very nice. Such small details. I'd love to have that cruising along next to a police ship defending a convoy or a local outpost.

Good news!

In todays, "My Day" blog on the SFU BBS:
SVC wrote: Worthwhile off-list tasks TODAY.
1. ...
2. Warehouse: Got shipment of minis including overlord, Lyran Nca, space boar, death probe, monitor.
3. ...
Happy dances for Tony!!!!
I can't wait for Origins to get my very own monitor (or ten). Now I have to pack along some paint and brushes so I have somethig to do when I'm not playing in a game.

Congratulations Scoutdad. :D

Now I can't wait to see the monitor on the cart. I wonder if we will get a sneak peak the minis before Origins, or will some of us just have to wait a little longer ?:( I am interested in seeing how the space boar and death probe came out.
