What to buy?
Hi,
I got FC Academy a while ago. I'm wondering if I should pick up Klingon Border then Romulan Attack (Romulan Space?). And should I get Klingon Attack (Klingon Space?) and Romulan Border on PDF for the Scenarios? It looks as if the only Scenario they have in common is 'Training'. Or am I misunderstanding how it works?
And what's the difference between Klingon Attack and Klingon Space? Or the difference between Romulan Attack and Romulan Space?
The Tactics book looks interesting.
I'll probably get Orion Attack at some point, too.
Maybe the Tholian Attack, but I feel like I wouldn't use it more than once or twice.
Then what to get after that?
What's the best 'bang for my buck' so to speak?

The easiest way to "upgrade" from Academy is Graduation. FC: Graduation includes everything in Klingon Border that is not in Academy.
The base products break down like this:
- Klingon Border. The base game focusing on the Federation border with the Klingons.
- Klingon Space. A less expensive version of Klingon Border in case you started with Romulan Border.
- Klingon Attack. An expansion module that has additional ships for the Klingons, Federation, and Kzinti.
- Romulan Border. The base game focusing on the Federation border with the Romulans.
- Romulan Space. A less expensive version of Romulan Border in case you started with Klingon Border.
- Romulan Attack. An expansion module that has additional ships for the Romulans, Federation, and Gorns.
So, given you already have Academy, then getting Graduation and Romulan Space gives you the base sets. Adding in Klingon Attack and Romulan Attack gives you more ships for the empires you already have. After that, it's just where you want to go with other empires.
One other cool product is the Reference Rulebook. It includes the rules for all of the empires. If you combine this with all of the ships provided by Communique, you get a very wide range of ships to try out to see what empires you like and want to focus on.

I think I'm going to start over. I don't know where all of my Academy bits are. I'm going to start with Klingon Border. After that, it's Romulan Space.
I think I'll wait until I've gone through those before I get anything else. Except that Tactics book. I'm sure I could use that.
I picked up Reference Rulebook a couple of months back. Very Nice.

If they are missing a part, it can cause them to have to pull it down until they get the part back in stock. Can you swap it and do Romulan Border and Klingon Space? Or is Klingon Border not there, either?
And, again, I strongly recommend going through the back issues of Communique. It has a ton of ships for you to use.

As far as like an index of the Communique s. Not really but the Master Ship Chart in the Commander Circle has a row for which Communique a ship is in.

Also there is a new Quarterly News Letter Hailing Frequencies that confuse putting out new Federation Commander content.

I can not get the Archive of the issues to open since the move but they have one.

I lied they did sneak a master index in on the legacy board. Enjoy!

Re: What to buy?
You can add Klingon Border and Romulan Attack to enrich the scenario, but if you just need "Training" then you don't need to buy both. Klingon Attack and Romulan Attack mainly differ in scenarios and armies. Tactics books are useful if you want to advance your tactics. Orion Attack and Tholian Attack can be fun, but Tholian will be less useful. Choose the expansions that expand your favorite tactics and scenarios for the best value.Captain Nebula wrote:Hi,
