Checking in on the status on the new miniatures effort, as it's been a few months.

I know it likely "part of the list" of things to do, but any progress?

I reviewed the new contract and sent my report to the lawyers yesterday.

That's exciting news!

I just found out that the SFU is still a thing on another game's forum the other day! I haven't played for years! It's been so long since I've played that Federation Commander wasn't even a thing at the time!! So, anyway, I've been poking around the website for a couple days now and was disappointed to come across a number of dead shapeways links.

I don't have any fellow SFU players in my game group yet. Federation Commander looks like a great place to start, but trying to inspire a newcomer to pick it up with pewter minis might be difficult, even if they're nice. They can be more fiddly to build.

I can't wait to see what's next for the minis!

Shapeways went bankrupt. Someone is trying to resurrect it but I think only in Europe. We are negotiating with a new provider but it will take two years to get the minis that sold significant quantities back on the market. I hope we have a few 7000s next month.

Wow! Thanks for taking the time to respond to me! I first played SFB back in the 80s! It's cool that you're still involved!

I appreciate that you're continuing to push for more minis, but sorry to hear that it's still going to take some time. After the 7000s, what's next? 3788 or 3125?

Also, I bet you folks are super busy, with a long to-do list, but will somebody be looking at cleaning up the dead links on the website? For somebody, like me, returning to the game (or worse, a curious newcomer), a bunch of dead links can be confounding.

Yes, FC is a great place to get back into the Star Fleet universe!

I did the same thing myself about a year ago, and even though the minis may not be available (though many of the metal ones are - see the store), playing with the megahex counters is almost as visually inspiring.
