Klingon D5W
Is it just me, or does the D5W appear to have a center nacelle on the model? If so, then this is quite strange since the ship card doesn't picture one and it has no center warp boxes.

First, be sure you are looking at the ship card for the D5W, not the D5.
The D5W does indeed have a center engine. The engine boxes is split into two sets of four boxes (in squadron scale) on either side of the boom. (The same level as the F HULL and IMP.)
You are, however, correct that the SSD doesn't show the center engine. Odd. I never noticed that before ...
sigh

Yep, quite positive I'm looking at the D5W. You can find my source of the updated card version in communique #13 below...

I noticed because I'm rather fond of that ship design and so I decided to take a peak at the model.

Yup, the ship image is wrong (no center engine show).
However, the boxes are correct, and there are center warp boxes. In squadron scale, they are on either side of the F HULL and IMP. In fleet scale, they are on either side of the IMP.
So, the center warp engine is indeed there. Just pretend that the ship image is showing a variant that has the warp engine on the bottom.

Actually, the warp engine boxes were placed there to keep the SSD smaller (for SFB anyway), instead of putting it behind the ship like the C8/9. When I sculpted it, I was told to make "A D5 with a larger deckhouse and a small, frigate-sized center engine on the deckhouse". So I did
The ship description for SFB describes it as having the center warp over the deckhouse as well.
