Hellbore table discrepancy

Post by ethan_greer »

Hello,
I noticed that the Hellbore table in the Master Weapons Reference Card in Communique 34 differs significantly from the Hellbore table in Booster 0. Given the rules text I have for the Hellbore, the newer table doesn't seem to make sense. Is there a rules update for the Hellbore somewhere that I missed? Which is the correct table to use?
Thanks muchly,
-e.

The Hellbore table in Communique 34 should match up with the one in Distant Kingdoms, which is the product that carries the final version of the Hellbore rules (remember that everything in Booster 0 is merely for playtest, and is subject to change).

Yes, the hellbore damage table changed between Booster 0 and Distant Kingdoms.

In Booster 0, the first damage number was what was applied to the weakest shield, and the second damage number was applied to each of the other shields. So, if the damage was 5+2, 5 would be applied to the weakest shield, and 2 would be applied to each of the other shields

In Distant Kingdoms, this was changed. It is still the case that the first number is applied to the weakest shield, but the second number is the total damage applied to all of the other shields. So, if the damage was 8+7, then 8 would be applied to the weakest shield, and a total of 7 damage points would be applied to all of the other shields combined. To apply the second number (7 in the example), you apply one point of damage per shield until all five shields have received a point, then do it again until all have received two points, or you run out of points to apply. In the case of 7, two of the shields would get two points of damage, and the other three would get one point of damage. The defender picks the shields that get two points.

Hope this helps.
