Current tourny format?

What is the current tournament format? I know that you can't have Battleships, but that's about it.

It's usually printed up in Captains Log (none of which I have with me right now).

Page 34 of Captain's Log #38.

But in a nutshell:
Squadron scale
All ships from a single Empire
No more than 4 ships, no fewer than 3 ships
(That's a round about way of saying either 3 or 4 ships - 4 or 3 if you're part of Battlegroup Acadiana! )
And no more than 2 of a single type
Total value of ships must be between 425 and 450 points, inclusive.
No Battleships or ships published ONLY in Communique, Briefing, CL
No more than one Dreadnought and no more than one Battlecruiser.
Tholian force can have no more than one web-caster equipped ship.

Once the squadron is submitted and approved, it cannot be changed for the duration ofthe tournament.
You can withdraw and re-enter with a differnet squadron (including paying a new entry fee), but the old record will no longer be counted and the new fleet must begin from scratch.

Standard 42x30 map.
Minimum 3 rounds in the tourney
fixed map
any ship leaving the map is considered destroyed
Cloaking devices can be used for a total of 48 Impulses only, including fade-in / fade-out.

Now you lost me. Am I correct in my understanding that you mean 3 and a half ships are allowed? Must be that new Orion ship option we heard about .

The 4 or 3 was a reference to my favorite Lousianna cook, Justin Wilson who always recommended that you stir things for 5 or 4 minutes.

As for the other, I was thinking of maybe running Pi ships, but I guess 3 1/2 is possible too. That would be 3 Squadron Scale and 1 Fleet Scale ships.

Well, in F&E six fighters are one "ship equivalent", so I guess a Hydran force of three ships and three fighters counts as 3.5 ships :)

So am I correct in understanding that you meant pie, not Pi and that we are allowed to have 5 to 4 slices (ships) each if you are from Acadiana? Am I also correct in understanding that we are allowed the Orion Ship Option (unlimited Plasma Ds) in favor of Hod'Kel?

And now am I to understand that Terryoc is allowed to have 3pointFIVE ships as his special rule? And all because of those stinking Hydrans, now that is cool.

Too bad Mr. Wilson is gone, we use to enjoy watching his shows on a lazy afternoon, remindes me of a cool glass of lemonade.

Tony, don't worry! Matt's just upset that I destroyed Burt's Gorn, then Matt's Lyran last night. I was flying a Kzinti light cruiser Rralatha with drones moving at 3.1415 warp! [Lyrans don't understand Pi!]

I do need to say that Burt did a masterful job at taking my drones out. He just got too close and my direct fire ate him alive. Matt learned a lot about how not to use an ESG. But it was a good game with much improvement in maneuvering and timing.

And I love the concept of unlimited PL-D's! I developed this before Orion Attacks as a convoy escort. Then it got outlawed! Imagine, a pirate ship is outlawed! LOL!!!

Are fast drones (speed 32, rule 4G3b in the CRUL) available for purchase in the tournament?

No, with the inefficiency of the point system to begin with, adding complications would seriously lopside the battle.

Sorry, I need to bring this back to the top for future reference. I don't mean to necromance or up my post count, I already learned my lesson on that  .

But I do have a question: Does Battlecruiser mean heavy battlecruiser? It would be strange to not be able to take 2 D7's. Of course, It would also be wierd having 2 New Jersey's.

Also, what's the map size?

"only one battlecruiser" means heavy battlecruiser. So you could have 2xD7. Only one C7 though.

Edit: map size is 42 hexes by 30 hexes, about the same as using FC map panels on the small hex side, in a 3x2 array.

Time limit is ten turns.

This is not a complaint, just a question, but why is the FC Tourney system a squadron action rather than a single-ship duel?
