Fed CA and Klingon D7

I have found a playmate at work! He is an old SFB guy and is interested in trying out Fed Com during lunch. I was getting ready to print off and a couple of Fleet Scale Fed CAs and Klink D7s so I wouldn't have to bring the "real thing" to work. Problem is I can't find copies of these ships in the Commanders Circle. I have plenty of counters (we use minis when we play) and I have plenty of hex maps, just no ship cards. Am I missing something, or does anyone have suggestions for substitutes? I did see both scales of D7C, which should work, but am not sure about the Feds. I just don't wan to have to drag everything to work and back.

I recommend using the Fed NCA, which is in one of the more recent Communiques and will provide good competition for the D7C.
Alternatively, you can "upgrade" to the C7 and BC, as both of those are in Communique, too.

Fleet Scale Fed CA is
HERE. (it's not in Commander's Circle).
The free
First Missions introductory version of FedCom has truncated Fleet Scale versions of both the D-7 and Fed CA.
This document covers "SFB Rules Not Used in Federation Commander" and is helpful for orienting folks with legacy SFB experience.

Or you could print off a couple of copies of page 30 out of First Missions (
http://starfleetgames.com/federation/FC ... ssions.pdf) which conveniently has fleet scale Fed CA and Klingon D7.
Edit: Dagnabbit, djdood beat me to it.

Many thanks, guys. Hopefully my new playmate and i will get to play soon, now that i have this info. The "SFB rules not used" should prove especially handy for my partner.

You realize that either of the CA's mentioned are outdated and unusable for real play?

No I did not realize that. Could you please explain?

They may well be "outdated" (I'd have to check), but they are perfectly valid for play. Any changes to them do not invalidate them for gaming between two "learners". Please think about how someone new to the game system will interpret what you post. Only SVC can determine something is "unusable for 'real' play" and he never did that.
I used the "cards" in First Missions for a long time and they work just fine, thank you very much.
It's not like atomic is going to try and take them to the tournament at Origins.

Just to echo 'dood, those ship cards are perfectly fine for normal play. The ships have since been updated, but for those two ships especially, that is just cosmetic (number the engines, give power totals, change HET box color, etc.). They are just as usable as the CA and D7 ship cards from my original issue Klingon Border set.

Atomic,
I just took a quick look at the Ship Cards in First Mission. There is nothing wrong or outdated with them per se. It is just they were intended to be used as a introductery tool. Trust me I still play with these ships and they are just fine.
Things that were left off the First Mission Cards to make it easier to use as a teaching tool were things like;
1. Probe Ammunition Check off Boxes
2. Marines Check Off Boxes to keep up with Boarding Party Casualties.
3. Shuttle diagram to track damage to shuttles.
4. Frame Damage Check off boxes.
5. Point Value of Unit.
6. Damage Control Points (Both have 2 repair points in Fleet Scale.)
7. A Fed Style Drone rack (Type G in SFB) for the Fed CA but it is not really a big deal if you want to draw a Drone rack in your good to go.
Since Both ships are missing the same items your not really missing anything.
Run off a couple of copies and go at it till one of you is out of weapons to shot with .

Dal pointed out everything wrong with the First Missions one.
The CA doesn't have a weapons fired track, not to mention it says "Excess damage" Not "Frame Damage".

There is nothing "wrong" with it. It just hasn't been polished as much as those in the final (boxed) FC:KB game. Still perfectly playable.

Okay so mabey "wrong" was a little harsh. It is just missing somme things that are "right"

Hey Atomic,
In case you missed it check out Communique #41. Both Scales of the Middle Years Fed CA and Klingon D7 are in there as well as a certian old Bird that just keeps hanging around.
