New Reference Photos for Federation Ships

Post by djdood »

If you go for a "as-seen-on-TV" look for your Federation ships (like I try to), there are some newly-released photos of the filming miniature of the classic U.S.S. Enterprise which might prove very helpful as references.

Here is the new article on the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum's website (NASM owns and displays the filming miniature, after its donation by Paramount in the mid 1970's).

I then found a very recent post on Modeler Magic with some amazing new photos of the model taken during it's most recent restoration by Ed Miareki (in the 1990's) - these are fantastic references for the subtle weathering the model had, etc.

Both of these come courtesy of (former DS9, Voyager, Enterprise illustrator/designer) Doug Drexler's blog.

Someone send them an email to start making a hex stand for each model.

Then we can paint a hex map on a gymnasium floor and have a duel.
