A Star Fleet Universe Wiki?

Hi.

In the past, there have been efforts to include information regarding the Star Fleet Universe on pre-existing wiki sites, such as Wikipedia and Memory Alpha.

However, these have met with mixed results, for various reasons.

I wonder - might it be feasible to see about a dedicated Star Fleet Universe wiki?

Assuming that the terms of use for establishing one were acceptable to all concerned, and cost wasn't an issue (some wikis I've seen have a lot of ads, which might be a factor in that) perhaps one option could be to give the SFU the kind of wiki home that it can feel more comfortable in.

So, if it hasn't been thought of already, might a new wiki for the Star Fleet Universe be viable?

If it were to happen, I would suggest that ADB host the wiki software on their servers and control all inputs/edits.

Open Wikis are too much of the wild-wild-west for anything-goes editing.

Wikipedia itself has too many restrictions for "notability" and has already pruned a lot of hard work out and I'm sure the contributors don't want to see that repeated.

1. I don't need another project or have the staff to operate one, especially one that produces no revenue and takes up employee time.

2. Whatever has been done on non-ADB wikis is done without the knowledge, consent, or help of ADB and is mostly wrong and should be ignored and preferably deleted.

3. the resources we already have on the ADB site are more than adequate to whatever task this is intended to support, and in any case, are the most/best we can offer.
