Klingon Disruptor Accuracy

Post by Kang »

If your Disruptor gunners keep missing their targets, consider keeping a full point of energy back to power the agony booths. This will likely produce a fatal dose of agoniser radiation.

That way, gunners firing Disruptors later in the game should be more accurate, as they will have had an example set as to what happens to those who miss their targets.

Back in the day (mid '80's, when SFB was the only game to play...), we had one player who excelled at playing Klingons; Jeff Hester.

If his disruptor gunners ever missed what should have been an easy shot... he marked off a crew unit box to show where they had been exeuted and replaced.

What really made it interestig was that we sed all of the SFB rules, including crew unit death due to damage, hit and run raids, boarding party actions, adn ship captre. Once or twice, the death of his gunnery units eventually resulting in the capture of his ships... but he kept on doing it. At least he wasa Klingon of principals! :)

That's pretty funny.
"The good of the many outweighs the good of the few"

"Since my customary greeting would seem entirely self serving, I will simply say good luck."

"Live long and Prosper."

Oh, there's lots of good stories about Jeff.

Once, we were running a samll sqaudron battle in SFB. Klingons v. Kzinti. Jeff was running a D7C and a D6G, one of his allies had two D6's and the new guy just learnign the game had a F5B.
I had a Kzin BC and CM, the other Kzin player had (IIRC) two CL's and maybe a FFK?

Anyway, late in teh game, the shields on one of the CLs had been crashed, so the Klinks beam over en masse to attempt a capture. Of course, the D7C and the D6G beamed over the lion's share of the boarding parties... but then comes the Marine Combat phase and the Klingons take two casualties. Without a moments hesitation, Jeff turns to Steve (the new guy, flying the F5B) and says, "You just lost two of your boarding parties." So, Steve obediently marks two BPs as casualties!

You gotta admire Jeff's command abilities.

Gotta love that sticker in CL;

"Human by birth, Klingon by choice!"
