M81 Pirate option costs

Post by Nerroth »

Hi.

I'm still waiting for my own copy of CL40, so I'm not sure if this is addressed already - but here goes.

In the Reference Rulebook, costs are given for Orion optional weapons - which, for the weapons (i.e. phasers) which would go onto the M81 Pirate ships may remain the same.

However, are there costings done for M81-specific weapons, such as particle cannons and shield crackers (with and without the web breaker function) for use when working out the cost of an OGR and OGD kitted out with such weapons?

Good point. Maybe Mike West can get those into Comm-49 and CL41.

I'll keep an eye out, then.

On a related note, there was one other thing I wanted to clarify.

In scenarios set during or after the Revolt, would the M81 Pirates have the option of adapting their shield crackers to web breakers - perhaps paying more per option mount for the privilege?

(Either through capturing a sample from a Seltorian ship or transport, or being given the technology by the Seltorians themselves.)

I will do a larger article than this, but for the OG Pirates:
Particle Cannon: +1
Shield Cracker (only): 0
Web Breaker: +5
Web Caster: +10
Web Generator/Snare: +3

All of these items may only be used by the Old Galaxy Pirates.
All of these items take up a single box.

(The only one that varies from SFB is the PC. I gave it a break since it loses range and really isn't much better than a disruptor, which is 0 points.)

Would I be right in guessing that the two web-based options are intended to be pretty rare?

(Over in SFB, I'm not overly certain what the current story is, post-CL40, for using either weapon - or the web breaker - with the M81 pirates in that game...)

This is FC. Either it is available, or it isn't. ;)

Presumably, Web Casters would be extremely limited. But, the cost was listed for "Tholian Home Galaxy only" with no other notes. So, go for it.

In that case, I wonder who'll be the first to try using a WC out of that LFL wing mount of theirs.

But there are still systems in place to limit certain weapons, like hellbores on pirate ships, for example, limited by the 'allowed weapons' in the option boxes. But your point is well taken.
