Quantum Wave Torpedo availability

Post by Nerroth »

Hi.

According to (4Y1F1e), Orion and WYN option mounts are noted to be able to mount Paravian QWTs - a notable distinction relative to many other early years heavy weapons.

Is this intentional - and if so, what firing arcs do they use?

(In background terms, the presence of the Paravians, outside of the Omega Octant at least, came to en end before the rise of Orion raiders with option mounts. Or is it presumed that a Paravian derelict was scavenged by some later Cartel?)

Well, realize that it only really applies if Paravians and Orions with option mounts coexist. Since the weapon isn't listed in (5L1), and since the rule is specifically "Y", QWTs are not available in the main game. The main point of the rule (as opposed to most of the other weapons) is that there is no problem using QWTs, and it could be easily adapted by Orions if available.

As for the operation, since QWTs are 120 degree arc weapons, use the same arcs given to photons or disruptors. (Their arc is 120 degrees, right? I don't have access to an SSD right now.)

*Has a look*

The ones I see have 120-degree arcs, indeed.

(I wonder - how useful might QWTs be for an Orion player, if one wanted to use the weapon?)
