Ship Pictures?
Hi, I've purchase SFB recently and have been going over the rules. It seems a bit complex, but not overly so and the little bit I've played has been fun.
The Federation, Klingons and Romulan ships are easy to imagine, I've seen em on tv enough. But the Kzinti, Gorn and Tholian ships are a bit of a problem. I've got the SSD's, but their not exactly inspiring.
I've seen the Federation Destroyer and the Federation Scouts, so it's not hard to imagine. But the Kzinti Strike Cruiser and Kzinti Battlecruiser have the same basic appearance in the SSD, but I've never seen them, so it difficult to get in the spirit of playing them.
Is there some place I can go to find pictures that I can relate to the ships? Or at least be able to read a description of them?
I've looked at the minitures, but they seem to be a small subset and I'd honestly rather just have some pictures.
Thanks for any help.

Theres not a lot of different ships with Computer generated pics --- the Product covers have the most ---
You can go to https://www169.safesecureweb.com/starfl ... chant.mvc?
to look over the covers where you will see many of the ships ---
You didn't say how you reviewed the minis -- not much to see in the packets ---
The online catelogue has pics of minis assembled and painted by players
http://store.starfleetstore.com/merchan ... ry_Code=14
Then in this forum in the Miniatures section are pictures of many painted minis, along with CGI of some done by players ---
http://www.starfleetgames.com/federatio ... m.php?f=41
http://www.starfleetgames.com/federatio ... x.php?c=11
Hope this helps

The episode “The Tholian Web shows two Tholian Patrol Cruisers.
I am new to SFB, too, and buying a couple of miniatures for the Gorn and Kzinti ships really brought them to life for me. I bought a Gorn CA, Gorn CL, Kzinti CS, and Kzinti CL. Also a Fed CL. Pictures don’t do them justice. I wouldn’t say they are the most inspired designs in the world, but they are distinctive enough, and now they seem “real to me.

The pictures aren't all the clearest, but there are lots of nice line illustrations at the SFB painting guide index: http://www.starfleetgames.com/miniatures.shtml#guide
There are also some more line drawings here, but the SFB designs are mixed together will other Trek designs:
(Gorn): http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprint ... nse-force/
(Tholian): http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprint ... -assembly/
Unfortunately, I can't find the Kzinti, but that's probably because they aren't as well known outside of the SFU as the other two.

In the Gorn pictures, the ones that are SFB are the ones labeled: Kerrosaurus, Colesaurus, Amarillosaurus, Tyrannosaurus (I am not sure if these names are their official ADB designations or not. Tyrannosaurus sounds correct for the DN).
In the Tholian pictures, everything except the station and the light fighter are SFB (I am not sure about the light fighter).
Be sure to also check out "Adam's Starship Art" on this forum too.

There used to be a site called SFB Nexus with a bunch of CG images of different races' ships.
I managed to dig up the old galleries (you can't access them from the main site anymore):
http://www.sfbnexus.com/Gallery/federation_gallery.htm (the NCL and old FF don't really match the current version of each)

Ted used to be very accessible, but then a whole bunch of nasty health stuff happened to him in real life, and he became nearly impossible to contact. (No criticism here. Just non-judgmental statements.)MikeBurke wrote:Who is Ted Geibel and how do you reach him? The email provided on that sfbnexus stuff doesn't work?
So, you can't reach him. When he is ready for that to change, I am sure he will let people know.

First, let me say I'm a long-time fan of Ted's work on sfbnexus, and am sorry to hear he's had health issues. I hope everything works out for him.
Secondly, I can relate to the original poster of this thread (in a sense) and am hoping some of you can maybe help me out as you did him.
I've played both SFB and FedCom for longer than I care to admit, but strictly the Alpha Octant and mostly the period of the General War. I've been curious about some of the Omega races, but here's my problem:
I want to be able to "visualize" the ship I'm flying in the game. The counters are just outlines, and the SSD's are mostly about the same.
I'd be interested in seeing art of some of the weirder races as well, just out of curiousity, since some of them are very "alien" by Alpha standards.
But I know thats unlikely to ever happen! The ships, however...I think thats one of the main things thats kept me from trying Omega.
I've seen the cover art for the Modules published, of course, and tracked down a few renders online. But any additional info or links would be appreciated. Also, I usually play with either miniatures or Mega-Hex counters, for the aesthetic appeal (and I realize that due to cost-effectiveness, neither of those are likely to ever see the light of day for Omega races...) However, after seeing Xander Fulton's home-made Mega-Hex-quality Plasma/Cloaking/Web counters, I don't rule out the possibility that someone could make really impressive counters for these races...

I am just asking because I would like to use one of the images has made with the FEDS, CA, TT, DD, DN for an online group - to represent my gamer's group. I just wanted to ask for permission. I hope he feels better.mjwest wrote:Ted used to be very accessible, but then a whole bunch of nasty health stuff happened to him in real life, and he became nearly impossible to contact.
