W&P: Which fleet are you most looking forward to?

Post by Nerroth »

Hi.

While the other thread is busy with rule debates, I wanted to gauge the mood regarding the three new fleets which War and Peace will introduce to the game system.

Are you most looking forward to flying the ships of the Inter-Stellar Concordium? Or do the extra-galactic Andromedan Invaders fit the bill for you? Or perhaps even the plucky Vudar Enclave?

Or are you equally pleased (or perhaps indifferent) towards all of the above?

Personally, I'm somewhat torn between the ISC and Andros. On the one hand, I am a major fan of the Concordium, and am excited to see them join the fray in FC. On the other, the Andros are good to see, not least because of the link they provide to certain other settings that one might see me promote now and then...

While I'm looking forward to using all of the new "Empires", the Vudar are definitely gonna have a soft spot in my heart.

After all, look how much grief they cause those low-down, dirty-rotten, methane-breathing, trashcan-looking... 8)

ISC all the way. I can hardly wait to pit the ISC vs Andros.

I won't go as far as to say I'm "indifferent" (the poll choices were a bit limiting), but the closest I could come is "none of the above".

I'm sure they'll all be good fun, but I don't have the experience with them to make a call yet and it may be a very long time before I do (I'm a "mainline" empire fan and the groups I've played with tend to be very "tv empire" focused). I might be able to spring the Andros on them someday as a special thing.

The Andromedans; they've always been my favorite 'bad guys', and I've wanted to run a Hydrans-vs-Andros campaign for ages. Much more practical with FC, especially since we can mug Andro Sat Bases again now (no tiresome Temporal Elevator! Happy... :D ).

I'm not so sure about the ISC; a lot will depend on the FC PPD rules - most of the countermeasures against that weapon in SFB may be missing in FC - and their ships are so damn' ugly. I swear when I first saw them I thought the three tubes were engines sticking out the rear end.

The Vudar, with their patent Stinger-auto-killing IPG...meh. We'll just kill them with Hellbore ships, then.

I'm not sure which I'm excited about. Not being an SFB player, my only experience with any of them was the ISC in Starfleet Command 2 and OP.

Each has their own flavor that will add tons of new wrinkles to FC. I am a bit excited about these empires in general since they come from the "later" part of the SFU history, and really change the F&E map a lot.

And then there are all those miniatures to build and paint... :D

Well, the Vudar are just getting released with FC: W&P, but otherwise, you're correct, they aren't needed in game to do miniatures, but it's a bit incentive.

I'm gonna say the Andros, just because I'm excited to see the new rules and there are sure to be plenty of scenarios with them. :)

And Djdood, tell them the andros are really the Kelvins from that one trek episode :D

That's another thing I like about the Andros - no-one knows who or what they are. No-one has ever seen one and lived, or at any rate, stayed sane enough to describe them afterwards.

(In my portion of the multiverse, they're Steven King's Tommyknockers - insert your favourite alien villains here).

W&P which fleets are you looking forward to ?

Post by jeffery smith »

i've been looking forward to all 3 fleets. i've always thought the andro's, and the ISC were a pain to learn in SFB but after reading the test rules i'm looking forward to giving them all a spin.

All will be good to have, but I'm mostly interested in seeing the Andros as before now we haven't seen any playtest rules or anything about them.
