The FC Alpha Strike rules are in Cap Log Supplemental, has anyone seen these? Gotta wait a day or two before I can download the issue

*sob*. Do they produce the same results as the regular DAC?

What is an alpha strike?

It's where you shoot basically everything at your opponent in one impulse. i.e., if you are flying a Fed CA, you shoot your photons and all available phasers at the target at one time. Some call it shooting "the wad."

I just bought CL Supp. 41. I actually like this way of doing damage. Can be very fast. However, what it has to do with the SFB concept of alpha strike, I don't know.
I will try this on Saturday.

They produce the average results of the DAC, taking out some of the randomness. There are notes on how this can be dealt with. Seems to be fast, which I like, and can't wait to try it. It has tables for standard and directed (power/weapons) fire.
Also, the table gives you an idea of the statistics of scoring damage between standard, power directed and weapon directed, which could be used for strategery.

The "Alpha Strike Rules" have nothing to do with shooting the wad. This is an alternative system for dealing with large numbers damage points (e.g. "hits") during damage allocation.
This system can tremendously speed up damage allocation during squadron battles and especially those involving big ships with lots of weapons.
