Counters

Post by mattruh »

So, I have a question. The ACTA system is similar to the Babylon 5 ACTA, correct? Has anyone tried using the ACTA Star Fleet rules with counters for Federation Commander? And if so, did it work well?

I did this for my first couple of games, making use of the large (1") counters. It seemed to work OK, but gauging the centre of the counters could be a bit tricky.
Nothing is quite as persuasive as a disruptor pistol on slow burn and a rotisserie......

When we playtest new ships / new empires that do not necessarily have a ST2500 miniature - we use the 1" Fed Comm counters.
They are square, so its really easy to do 90-degree arcs.
The hemispherical arcs are a bit questionable - but we usually put a fine white dot in the midpoint of each side and use that as a guideline.
The actual measurement in the game is from ship stand to ship stand - so when using counters, we measure from center to center.

It seems to work OK. Although honestly - since the game is designed for use with minis and 2"diameter bases; and the bases cannot overlap - we use Blu-Tac (or some other temporary adhesive) to stick the counter to the middle of an empty base. This gives us a better movement perspective and allows us to follow the same limits the game already sets.
