The A-4 carried a single Ph-2 and later upgrades added 2 type 1 drones.

Well my primary reason for this fighter was to get a early ph-2 fighter, similar to the Z-1 althought not quite as armed.

Let me see if I have this right.

Take a Z-1. Delete rear-firing phaser-3. Delete two damage points. Reduce Dogfight rating from 2 to 0. Change name from Z-1 to A-4.

Does the Federation really need an early phaser-2 fighter? If the Federation does, I suppose at least the Kzintis do as well.

Is this trip necessary?

I think it is, the Kzintis and Rom's? probly should as well, although the Kzintis probly are too drone based to consider that design. The Federation was not a big drone user at this point and to me it makes since for them to have this type of fighter.

I simply do not see why it is necessary to proliferate one space phaser-2 fighters across the SFB universe. The Klingons had them (Z-1s and Z-Ps), and the Tholians got them (Spider-IIPs) because they were useful behind webs. Is it necessary that the Feds should have phaser-2 fighters in addition to their phaser-G fighters?

Sorry. I still consider this trip to be unnecessary.

That does not mean that you will not convince SVC.
