Star Fleet Universe Discussion Board: Star Fleet Battles: New Product Development: 2009: The Year of the Book: Archive through December 12, 2008
By Mike West (Mjwest) on Monday, December 08, 2008 - 09:32 am: Edit

Personally, I think trying to combine FC and SFB scenarios into a single thing would be a horrendous confusing mess. It is probably simpler to just write the two scenarios independently.

And that includes the intro. Even the intros are different. From the time the scenario occurs, to the description of the ship's involved, and maybe even a few other details, it is just all different.

I really think the scenarios should not be combined. (A book could have both, but I think you should have an SFB scenario section with just SFB scenarios, and an FC scenario section with just FC scenarios.)

SSJ3! SSJ3!

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 - 08:51 pm: Edit

It would be very Kewel to see the Peladine published in a formal product!

By Shawn Hantke (Shantke) on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 - 10:11 pm: Edit

How about a best of Captains logs with updates and fixes to the early stuff not updated or fixed already? Or a new best of Nexus? Change the stories so the history and lore of the SFU remains but the stories and scenarios "work" (would make Petrick happy) The early things should be updated and brought into todays standards for the gamesrs that never had or forgot them.

By Dale McKee (Brigman) on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 - 11:25 pm: Edit

I'll second Mike West's call for SSJ3! I'd LOVE to see the "modern Carnivons" promised in SSJ2 (CL #28), and more Paravian ships as mentioned in that issue as well.

More Peladine, formally published, would be most welcome as well.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Thursday, December 11, 2008 - 01:33 am: Edit

Dale, actually you are 8th'ing that request (or more). There's been a lot of calls for SSJ3.

By Robert Hyrneson (Hyrneson) on Thursday, December 11, 2008 - 02:28 am: Edit

Booms & saucers, tugs and pods, and BP diagrams would almost seem to be administrative in nature, very little sizzle, and sold direct from the website.
This isn't to say I wouldn't like them, just I see them as an 'also released' product supporting a main release.

I'm up for SSJ3 - but I'd like to see MSSB chunks first.

By John A Schneder II (Keltner) on Thursday, December 11, 2008 - 10:54 am: Edit

In descending order of preference:
SSJ3 (for the GW Carnivons)
MSSB and formally published Peladine tie for second, but the Peladine will probably take less effort.

BPs great! Thanks

By Jessica Orsini (Jessica) on Thursday, December 11, 2008 - 04:23 pm: Edit

In order of preference:

1. Peladine (yeah, bigh shock there)
2. Term Paper Compillation
3. Tugs and Pods
4. Carrier Groups
5. Booms and Saucers
6. BP Diagrams
7. Omega BP Diagrams

There was another minor race up between the Kzinti and the Feds can't remember their name. If you do the Peladine do them too in the same volume. They both vanished from the scene in similar manners. "The Lost Races"? "The Vanished Races"?
No I got it:
VANISHED: The Lost Races Of The Alpha Quadrant (Leaves you room for a Vanished: Omega and VANISHED: LMC. And hey For Loren VANISHED:M81)

Stacy: You're thinking of the Carnavons.

By Stacy Brian Bartley (Bartley) on Thursday, December 11, 2008 - 05:32 pm: Edit

Tony, no they had a few SSDs in a Captain's Log which is where they were discussed. But thanks for the help:)

Stacy,

Cygnus?

By Stacy Brian Bartley (Bartley) on Thursday, December 11, 2008 - 06:07 pm: Edit

Ryan, I think that's it. It's what I WANTED to say but just wasn't sure enough and didn't want to go hunting for that Captain's Log. Thanks!:)

Between Fed and Kzin, Mant- something.

By Mike West (Mjwest) on Thursday, December 11, 2008 - 07:44 pm: Edit

The Cygnans.

BTW, they aren't a "lost race" as they are full members of the Federation. The ships were just a stop-gap to defend themselves while the Federation defended their Y102 border from the Kzintis. (The Cygnans like the Y102 border since it turned them from Kzinti subjects to Federation citizens.)

Mantor was a minor border world that was the subject of a related story involved in the same war.

By Stacy Brian Bartley (Bartley) on Thursday, December 11, 2008 - 07:54 pm: Edit

Mike
Neither are the Peladine "lost" just ceased to be an independent star faring "empire". Perhaps Lost Empires might be a better description?

How about Module V? I'm not sure if it needs counters.

By Ken Burnside (Ken_Burnside) on Friday, December 12, 2008 - 01:21 pm: Edit

While not quite a book, I would pay $10 for loose leaf pages for the MRB that had the Vudar rules in their right sequencing in sections E, H and G.

By Mike West (Mjwest) on Friday, December 12, 2008 - 03:27 pm: Edit

If we are going to ask for MRB additions, I would still like a small annex that includes S1-S8, U1, and maybe some key R pointers, too.

By Andy Vancil (Andy) on Friday, December 12, 2008 - 05:51 pm: Edit

Not sure what you are talking about, Ken. At least with my MRB in a binder, there would be no point. The E, G and H rules in F2 are on separate pages, and all come after all the MRB rules in their respective rule sections. The only page discontinuity in section E of my MRB is because of F1 (Jindos) - E17 runs into E20 in the MRB, and E18 and E19 are in F1.
