While we asking about printing a F101 SSD, how about a printing F101 logistics units?

The published history of SFB has the Federation losing two CVA and one CVL tug pod in the later General War period:

o Y183 SH73 Tug Copernicus is lost while carrying a CVA pod.

o Y184 SH102 Tug Wolf with CVA and CVL pods (VAP and VP) attacked by Romulans. The Wolf drops both pods, which were destroyed by the Romulans, in order to escape.

The advocates of the F101 could push for
1) Replacing the lost CVA pods with a "ACS pod" based on the CVA pod carrying a F18 and a F101 squadron,
2) Replacing the lost CVL pod with one carrying F101's and
3) Building their own F101 resupply pod -- which, BTW, could be identical to the unpublished A20 AVP resupply pod.

The above could be accompanied by a "Federation Heavy Fighter Deployment" article that covers the procurement politics and "historical combat background" of Federation heavy fighters.

Some ideas for that article:

a. It has been speculated a number of times over on the SFB boards that the Federation had to shut down F16 and later F-15 production to get enough fighter Gatling phasers to deploy the numbers of F111 they did. Did that happen?

b. The logistics of running most of the Federation fleet through the two Logistical Task Forces would have made upgrading Federation F18 carriers on the front lines (without sending them back for months at a time to distant Star base for an F111 or A20 upgrade) a choice of adding megafighter packs to existing F18 squadrons or upgrading them to F101s. Which did the Federation choose? Neither? Both? Some combination?

c. Did the advocates for the F101 push to have the F101 declared the "Federation National Guard Heavy Fighter" and what opposition would they have run into from the advocates of the B-1 and B-2 bombers?

d. What were the military politics of F101 deployment? AKA, would most of the F101's gone to the Romulan front, or would the 6th Fleet's military need to have anti-plasma phaser-G on it's fighter prevailed? And how would that argument play out with Operation Remus?

e. How did the politics of the A20 happen given that the A10's upgrade to higher speed engines was stopped to kill the Cygnan A6.

All that together would make for a popular theme for a Captain's Log 39 or a future "J3" product in the SFB line and definitely "Tactical Operations" in the F&E line.
