(R3.21) D6V Carrier: Under "Seeking weapons:" the text ". . . double its sensor despite . . ." should be ". . . double its sensor rating despite . . .", the word "rating" is missing. Steven Petrick 8 October 2015

(R1.PF6) G1L Leader (page 126): The image is wrong. It is missing the collar and the drone rack positions should be black semi-circles. (It appears to be a G1M.) John Wyszynski 8 Oct 2015
By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Saturday, October 17, 2015 - 02:52 pm: Edit |
For what it is worth, I did a manual search of the entire Klingon book, and the only case where the word "rating" is missing is in (R3.21). I have no way of knowing how it was deleted in that one case.
On the Klingon PFL. SVC created the proper graphic. We know he did because he then modified that graphic to create the G1Q and G1N. But somehow the saved G1L graphic in his own file was not a G1L, but apparently as John Wyszynski surmised a duplicate of the G1M.
It is, however, a wonder that with all of the material that is in this book that in the more than 10 days since its release so far these are the only two errors reported. To that, I want to extend my thanks to the diligence of the imperial researchers who reviewed this book. I will note specifically while all of us missed that one missing "rating," they bear no responsibility for the G1L graphic as that was inserted after they saw the files, and none of them had an opportunity to catch it. I was the last backstop on that one and just missed it.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, October 17, 2015 - 03:01 pm: Edit |
Not to mention that I somehow did the hull extensions then didn't save them. I think what happened was that Petrick said "To do the G1L start with this thing that's close and add the hull extensions." I did that, but didn't get the file saved before cloning the G1L to go produce the G1Q and/or G1N. There are a bunch of steps in doing a ship and I just missed one of them.

(R1.22-3) MONITOR (MON) - The list of fighters for the fighter pallet does not include a 6 heavy fighter option. Can't find anything that doesn't allow heavy fighters being used on a monitor; actually the note on PF Tender in this entry implies heavy fighters are only restricted when using a PF or SCS pallet. - Wyszynski 10/26/2015
(R1.83-3) LIGHT MONITOR (LMN) - The above appears to also apply to the Light Monitor. - Wyszynski 10/26/2015
These also apply to the Federation and Hydran books.

(R3.26) E3E CARRIER ESCORT - The description has a reference to scenario (SP1701.0). This is a play test number; is there a official number, like (SH###.0)? - Wyszynski 12/2/2015

John Wyzynski:
If the scenarios had been formally published then historical rule numbers would have been used. They have not been formally published, so the playtest rule numbers were used because the historical information is valid.

Ok. As it is seems to be a valid historical scenario, perhaps it would be a good one to put in a Captain's Log.

(R3.7) Change reference to Romulan "K4R battle escort (R4.10)" to just "K4R escort (R4.10).

Some have noted that the Klingon Master Star Ship Book included the Operations Base and the Operational Auxiliary, and have determined that this means that the Federation and Hydran Master Star Ship Books were missing entries for this.
This is not so.
The "General Units" lists only those ships which have something that makes them different. Thus, for example, every empire (except the Andromedans and Jindarians) will get a listing for the Free Trader and Armed Cutter, because the weapons that these might be armed with are different (while many empires use the same weapons, some empires cannot use some weapons and this information is provided).
But the Operations Base and the Operational Auxiliary do not have different weapons. Whether operated by the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, Kzintis, Gorns, etc., all are armed with phaser-1s and phaser-3s (there is no rule downgrading some empires to phaser-2s or allowing the Hydrans to replace the phsaer-3s with phaser-Gs).
The Klingons get a mention only because the Klingons have "Security Stations."
This is just like the Federation did not get a mention for some general units that the Hydrans got a mention, because the Hydrans might put "casual fighters" on a unit that otherwise has no optional weapons. The same unit might get a mention in the Klingon book because it gained security stations, or have no mention because it does not gain security station.
So do not expect to see the Operations Base and the Operational Auxiliary listed with the General Units of any other empire, because nothing changes. The Romulan versions, for example, do not gain cloaking devices, and so are not mentioned (the cloaking cost of the basic Operations base varies too widely to have a cloak. The Mobile Base never had to take into account that it might be part of just a large freighter (freighter front and freighter drive section) or as part of an operational auxiliary (freighter front, freighter drive engines, plus two more pods), or as a Operations base.

(R3.14) Text is unclear on independent operations- "Note: This pod is not capable of independent operations." and under "Operation" it says "This pod is capable of independent operations." near the end of that subsection. - Howard Bampton July 2, 2016
(R3.21) heavy fighters issue. Text says "When operating Z-Hs... each bay held only two such fighters". Fighters listed in table show 5 vs. the text's 4. - Howard Bampton July 2, 2016
(R3.54) text mentions movement cost when carrying the P-V7 in the first paragraph. While the V7 is apparently the only double weight pod published at present, suggest just mentioning pod weights in case additional pods are published. - Howard Bampton July 2, 2016
(R3.150) in Seeking weapons the closing ')' is missing to match with "(Some pods include additional seeking weapon control..." - Howard Bampton July 2, 2016
(R3.A21) "Records are unclear if a C10 heavy dreadnought were converted" - should either be was instead of were, or any dreadnoughts (verb subject agreement)- Howard Bampton July 2, 2016
(YR3.16) History of hulls is contradictory. 1st paragraph refers to 4th being built to replace 3rd one. Third paragraph says "The third survey cruiser, the last one to remain in service". The fix seems to be that the 1st one was the last one to remain in service since the 2nd was replaced by the 3rd which was replaced by the 4th and the 4th was replaced by a D6E. - Howard Bampton July 2, 2016

HB, if R3.21 is talking about a P-H5, then the text is right in that it can hold only 2 ZHs as they are double-sized fighters (the pod can only hold five normal fighters)...
By Howard Bampton (Bampton) on Sunday, July 03, 2016 - 09:35 am: Edit |
R3.15 is the P-H5 and consistently exchanges the 5 single space for 2 double space plus an admin (I just double checked this). R3.21 is the D6V. I'll adjust my line item to make that more clear.
(R3.21) heavy fighters issue. Text says "When operating Z-Hs... each bay held only two such fighters". Fighters listed in table show 5 vs. the text's 4. Based upon the P-H5 (R3.15), the table should show 4 heavy fighters. - Howard Bampton July 3, 2016

(YR3.15) D4C: The seeking weapons paragraph needs to have a tab inserted at the start.
(YR3.16) D4E: Change the text in the third paragraph that reads "The third survey cruiser, the last one to remain in service, . . ." to read "The first survey cruiser, the last one to remain in service . . ."
Some have noted that the Klingon Master Star Ship Book included the Operations Base (R1.45-3) and the Operational Auxiliary (R1.45A-3), and have determined that this means that the Federation Master Star Ship Book and Hydran Master Star Ship Book were missing entries for these.
This is not so.
The "General Units" lists only those ships which have something that makes them different. Thus, for example, every empire (except the Andromedans and Jindarians) will get a listing for the Free Trader (R1.9) and Armed Cutter (R1.86), because the weapons that these might be armed with are different (while many empires use the same weapons, some empires cannot use some weapons and this information is provided).
But the Operations Base and the Operational Auxiliary do not have different weapons. Whether operated by the Federation, Klingons, Romulans, Kzintis, Gorns, etc., all are armed with phaser-1s and phaser-3s (there is no rule downgrading some empires to phaser-2s or allowing the Hydrans to replace the phaser-3s with phaser-Gs).
The Klingons get a mention only because the Klingons have "Security Stations."
This is just like the Federation did not get a mention for some general units that the Hydrans got a mention, because the Hydrans might put "casual defense fighters" (R9.R6) on a unit that otherwise has no optional weapons. The same unit might get a mention in the Klingon book because it gained security stations, or have no mention because it does not gain security stations.
So do not expect to see the Operations Base and the Operational Auxiliary listed with the General Units of any other empire, because nothing changes. The Romulan versions, for example, do not gain cloaking devices, and so are not mentioned (the cloaking cost of the basic Operations base varies too widely to have a cloak). The Mobile Base (R1.24) never had to take into account that it might be part of just a large freighter (freighter front and freighter drive section) or part of an operational auxiliary (freighter front, freighter drive engines, plus two more pods), or as a Operations base.
