As noted in (R19.5) in SFB Module C6, the General War-era Carnivon dreadnought is, like several others of its kind across the Alpha Octant, an upgrade of an earlier Size Class 2 hull. Since no SSD currently exists for a Carnivon early dreadnought, I wondered if it might be worth creating one at some point - and, if so, whether there could be more to it than merely cutting the umber of disruptor cannons down from 6 to 4, in terms of making the DNE hull functionally distinct from its successor dreadnoughts in Carnivon service.

"Historically", the ship might be most useful in the "Carnivon Empire" timeline listed in Module C6, to counter any Kzinti DNEs and/or Lyran Royal Tigers used in the invasion of Y157, should there be more scope for "Middle Years" scenarios over on the F&E side of things. The "Cluster Carnivon" timeline also offered in C6 might offer less of a window of opportunity, as those Carnivons sat out the Four Powers War and would have upgraded or retired any would-be DNE hulls by the time they burst out of the WYN Cluster in Y178.
